8. Viserion’s death

Throughout the series, we have watched Daenerys’ dragons grow into their own. They’ve learnt to fly, learnt to hunt, and learnt to kill.

They’ve been constantly growing

They’ve faced off against many of Daenerys’ enemies, and she has protected and loved them fiercely throughout.

The three dragons were named after important men in Daenerys’ life – her two brothers (Viserys and Rhaegar) and her husband (Drogo).

Wights definitely don’t like fire

None of the dragons had truly faced death before reaching Westeros – but then, none of them had faced the White Walkers.

In episode 6 of series 7, Viserion was unfortunate enough to take an ice lance to the chest, when Daenerys flew North to help Jon Snow.

Gut-wrenching

Hearing him – and his brothers – shriek as he tumbled from the sky was truly horrifying. I definitely remember shedding more than a few tears, thinking over how we’d virtually seen them grow up throughout the show. Sadly, Viserion was only destined to rise again as a wight under the control of the Night King. And we’re not looking forward to seeing the destruction he’ll cause in series 8.
