8. Allergic to his role
The Tin Man wasn’t always going to be played by Jack Haley. Originally, Buddy Ebsen was cast for this role.
Sadly, he had to quit after having allergic reactions to the aluminium dust in his make up.
A stressful costume!
That’s when Jack Haley stepped in and finished the role for him. I don’t think covering anyone in aluminium dust is a good idea.
