Who is Midnight Thomas Musto?
Midnight Thomas Musto is Blackbear’s first child, born in 2020 when Matthew Tyler Musto was 29 years old.
He announced his first child’s birth in an Instagram post, where he wrote: “MIDNIGHT THOMAS MUSTO IS HERE im a papa im a daddy!!!!!!!! omg omg i havent stopp crying”
He and his girlfriend Michele Maturo first announced that they were having a baby in September 2019. At the time, Blackbear announced that his son’s name would be Midnight Morrissey Musto, but it seems that the couple had a change of heart at the end, changing it to Midnight Thomas Musto.

Since Midnight’s birth, he’s regularly appeared on Blackbear’s Instagram. Most recently, Matthew posted a sweet picture of himself with Midnight in the car, which he captioned: “blasting the new album with midnight he knows every word!!”
Clearly, having a child has had a huge impact on Matthew’s life, and in one interview he even explained that it’s impacted his music.
Blackbear said: “I didn’t know what to do with my hands for a while, and now I have my hands full. The fact that my hands are full now is beautiful, and it has changed my music in many ways. I learned how to love in a different way.
The love that I talk about in my music isn’t the same as the love I talked about before with my previous music. I guess you could say that my heart has grown exponentially.”
A Second Child
Fatherhood clearly agreed with Matthew, as in 2021 he and his girlfriend announced that they were having a second son. This was also a chance for Blackbear and Michelle to return to a favored potential name for Midnight.
Their second son, Morrissey Onyx Musto, was born on March 22nd, 2022. Blackbear also confirmed that his name is inspired by his favorite singer, Morrissey from the British band The Smiths.
Meanwhile, Onyx is inspired by the gemstone. According to Blackbear and Michele, the dark stone carries the meaning of protection and willpower. The stone is also supposed to help push you forward in life.

In an interview, the couple said: “We are so blessed for this new addition to our family. Our 2-year-old son Midnight now has a built-in best friend. We did not know our hearts could expand this much. Shout out to the parents not getting any sleep we are tired with you!”
There’s a reason for Blackbear to feel blessed in particular. In 2016, he was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with necrotic pancreatitis, a liver disease that has a very high mortality rate.
Luckily, Blackbear pulled through, but it was an eye-opening experience. While in hospital, he started writing songs for his first full-length album and turned his lifestyle around to prevent any more harm.
Who is Blackbear’s Girlfriend?
Blackbear’s girlfriend, and mother to Morrissey Onyx and Midnight Thomas Musto, is Michele Maturo. We know that she is an American model and actress, but little else is known about Michele.
As well as having two children, Matthew and Michele took their relationship to the next level last year by getting engaged. Michele announced their engagement on Instagram in April 2021, saying: “Said yes to my forever person”
