In a GQ Hype interview, Jonathan spoke about the advice he was given by a fellow actor about keeping aspects of his life private.
“There’s two things we don’t want to know: if you’re an alcoholic, or if you’re gay. All it takes is for one of those people in that position of power to say that, and it ripples through.
So, yeah, of course, I thought that. Of course, I thought that, in order to be happy, I needed to be straight.”

After a while though, Jonathan Bailey decided to put his happiness first.

Acting Career
Jonathan Bailey might have hit the big time thanks to his time on Bridgerton, but he’s actually been climbing the industry ladder for many years now.
He started out as a child actor in Royal Shakespeare Company Productions when he was six years old.
Jonathan continued to work in the theatre in his adult life, and picked up roles in the likes of South Downs and the musical version of American Psycho.
The actor has worked alongside Ian McKellen at the Chichester Festival Theatre over the years- and it seems like they’re best pals!
