Alice Levine Born: What Do We Know About The Radio Presenter?

It’s fair to say that Alice Levine has had a very varied career. Though she got her start as a TV presenter, she’s since branched out into podcasting, radio, and comedy.

But what do we actually know about the Radio 1 presenter? Well, we’re going to tell you everything, starting with – when was Alice Levine born?

When Was Alice Levine Born?

Alice Levine was born on the 8th of July 1986. This makes the presenter 35 years old.

She grew up in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, and we know that her father was a retired lecturer at the University of Nottingham. However, Alice chose not to head to her father’s alma mater, instead studying English at the University of Leeds.

After university, she was a big part of the Leeds Student Television, a society dedicated to TV production.

In fact, she was already winning awards in her role at Leeds Student Television. In 2013, she was awarded ‘Best On-Screen Female’ at the National Student Television Awards.

From Model to Presenter: How Tall Is Vernon Kay?

We can speculate that her work for Leeds Student Television led to her first job presenting Celebrity Bites for MTV in the UK. From 2011 to 2013, Alice Levine presented Big Brother’s Bit on the Side alongside Jamie East.

But the presenter got her big break in 2013 when she moved to radio work. She joined Radio 1 in the late-night John Peel slot, co-presenting with Phil Taggart, but later took over the weekend breakfast show.

She remained at Radio 1 as a presenter until 2020. In her final presenting role at the station, she co-hosted an afternoon weekend show with Dev.

My Dad Wrote a Porno

Aside for her work at Radio 1, Alice Levine is probably best known for co-presenting the well-loved podcast My Dad Wrote a Porno.

While the podcast didn’t start until 2015, you can actually trace it back to Alice’s university days. While studying English, she met Jamie Morton and James Cooper.

The three stayed in touch after university, with Jamie starting to work in television writing and James as a digital executive. My Dad Wrote a Porno started when Jamie attended his sister’s birthday party one year.

At the party, Jamie’s dad gave him a draft of an erotic novel he was writing. At Christmas the same year, Jamie, James, and Alice met at the pub and had a laugh reading the novel together. And so the idea for the podcast was born.

Explaining their friendship and university years, Alice said: “Making stuff has always been part of our friendship,” says Levine. “And we made a few things – often James’ visions, and we were but bit players.”

The podcast became an instant hit and is now in its sixth season. As of 2020, it had been downloaded 250 million times on iTunes, where it first debuted. It’s also been named one of the year’s best podcasts multiple times.

This year, the trio will also embark on a world tour for the podcast. But how long will it last?

James has said: “Every series [we finish], we then have that conversation about whether we do the next. We certainly never thought we get six, Jesus. So it’s just a kind of ongoing conversation.

As long as we enjoy doing it, I don’t think we’ll ever be like, that’s it, close it forever.”

Who Is She Dating?

Alice Levine has become known as an outgoing, bubbly presenter, with plenty of humour. With that in mind, does she have a boyfriend?

Well, the last we know is that she was linked to musician Edward Ibbotson. Ed was the vocalist and guitarist for the indie band Life in Film.

We know the two were together in 2014, as Alice mentioned that she had now moved in with Ed.

The musician also had a passion for food and was a chef for a restaurant in London. He may have passed on this interest to Alice, who has released a cookbook.

However, it now looks like the two broke up in 2017. That means they were together for at least 3 years – so it was definitely a serious relationship.

When asked about her relationship, Alice is reluctant to divulge anything. This means we don’t know if she’s now seeing anyone or not…
