Carol McGiffin’s Past, Her Prior Marriage And Rise To Fame
Carol McGiffin started her broadcasting career co-hosting with Chris Evans, who she married in 1991. The couple separated three-years later, with their divorce finalised in 1998.
McGiffin is best known for her observational style of comedy and her role as a panelist in Loose Women from 2003-2013 and again in 2018. However, she also starred in the twelfth season of Celebrity Big Brother.
Her Second Marriage Was A Secret
Last year, McGiffin revealed that she married her longtime boy toy Mark Cassidy in secret in 2018. According to the radio star, the couple chose to elope in Thailand, with no friends or family present.
However, the relationship wasn’t new. McGiffin, 60, and her husband Mark Cassidy, 37, were together for 10 years prior to tying the knot.
According to Carol McGiffin, the initially planned to marry in England in January 2017, but their plans were postponed due to the tragic death of Carol’s sister.
Carol also explained that their decision to elope came from the pressure of having a big wedding:
“Part of the reason it took us so long to get married was because every time we discussed having a traditional wedding day with guests, it ran out of control and became too much”
Who Is Mark Cassidy?
One thing’s for certain: Carol McGiffin’s husband keeps her private life private. Many details about Mark Cassidy, including his background and occupation, are not known to the public.
However, the couple do make the rare public occasion out together. Last year, McGiffin and Cassidy made their first red carpet appearance as a married couple, attending the christening of the MSC Bellissima in Southampton.
Later in 2019, the newlyweds were spotted again, this time in at a beach Miami, enjoying the sun.
Carol McGriffin’s Husband Is Her Biggest Supporter
When Carol McGiffin received her cancer diagnosis back in 2014, Mark was by her side every step of the way. She credited him with being an “unbelievable” tower of strength during her cancer journey.
Fortunately, Carol McGiffin survived the cancer and returned to the cast of Loose Women in 2018. Her co-stars on the show include icons like Brenda Edwards,, Saira Khan and the beloved Linda Robson.

Age is just a number
Carol has openly spoken about the age gap between her and Mark in the past, shutting down people’s negative opinions towards women who marry young men.
She said in one of her columns for Best magazine:
“Some people will never get their heads around the idea that an older woman can make it work with a younger man.”
But for the Loose Women star, age is just a number and not something that can stop a healthy relationship from thriving! As she puts it,
“It can work – I’m living proof of that, as Mark and I, are coming up to nine years together, and we’re stronger than ever.”
