Her acting career

Lauren’s role as Mika Grainger in series one-three of the BBC drama series Waterloo Road thrust her into the limelight; she was on the show from 2006-2008, but she had acted before!

Her first notable acting role was in 2001; she had a one-off role in an episode of Doctors. Then just before securing her role as Mika, Lauren appeared in an episode of Grange Hill.

Post Waterloo Road, Lauren has had a few main roles. She appeared as Student Nurse Faye Clark in The Royal from 2009-2011, after that she played Chantelle Lane in Holby City for two years.

Most recently, she appeared in Coronation Street as radio presenter Jane Bestwick.

Lauren’s smaller acting roles

Although she has had some regular jobs on well-known shows, she has also had one-off appearances.

She has been on Doctors a further three times! All as guest roles, she played different roles in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

Doctors isn’t the only show that she has had more than one role on. For example, she appeared on Coronation Street in 2001 and Holby City in 2008 – she played different characters in both soap operas. Also in 2008, she starred in the show Harley Street and the following year she was in Casualty.

In the past few years she has had guest roles in The Dumping Ground; Unforgotten; Press; and Silent Witness.

She’s not just a screen siren

According to Lauren’s management company, Hamilton Hodell, she has also acted on the stage.

To date, her best-known stage role is in the UK tour of ‘Billy Liar’, in which she played Barbara.

However, it was her role as Young Penelope in ‘The Ancient Secret of Youth and the five Tibetans’ at Bolton’s Octagon Theatre which earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Manchester Theatre Awards in 2016.

She has also appeared in another Bolton Octagon production: ‘Quiet Street’ as Sylvia.

Her other stage appearances include Stef in ‘All Songs Are Love Songs’; Connie in ‘Glaze’; Karen Daniels in ‘Rehearsal for Murder’; Betty in ‘Dangerous Corner’; Chrissie Snaith in ‘If I Were You’; and Lilya in ‘Lilya’.

Lauren Drummond’s charity work

Lauren is a celebrity ambassadors for the charity, Well Child. Other celebrity ambassadors include the dance troupe Diversity, Harry Potter actor Oliver Phelps, Strictly Come Dancing’s Ian Waite and Gillian McKeith.

The charity’s vision is simple:

‘Our vision is for every child and young person living with serious health needs to have the best chance to thrive – properly supported at home with their families’.

Her bio states:

‘Lauren was introduced to WellChild last year by fellow Holby City star Guy Henry and was blown away by the work of the charity and the many inspirational children and families it helps.

She often attends the charity’s events and promotes their good work on her Instagram page.
