Look who I bumped into last night at the #prideofbritainawards! We’re often tempted to believe that the most significant people in our society are those with power, wealth and/or status. But for this one important event of the year, that cultural narrative is overturned in a very public way, as the true heroes of our communities are heralded and celebrated. People like my own mother who cared for my brother Tommy until he couldn’t fight any longer; police officers who serve with such distinction; nurses, midwives and health visitors; children who are forced to display levels of courage and fortitude that we wouldn’t expect of most adults, among many, many others. A privilege to be present – and be sure to watch the broadcast on @ITV November 6th at 8:00pm – as the show marks the 20th anniversary of the awards ceremony @DailyMirror @PrideOfBritain @thexfactor
