Violet Beauregarde (AnnaSophia Robb) – Then

Violet Beauregarde is depicted as a competitive, obnoxious, gum-obsessed brat and appears to be goaded to behave that way by her mother who also appears to possess a competitive streak. She aims to beat the world record for chewing gum for the longest amount of time.

She loses her place at the chocolate factory after chewing a piece of gum that hasn’t been tested properly yet…and experiences some pretty nasty side effects! She suddenly swells up into a giant ball and her skin turns violet like her name. She is next seen again at the end of the film, extra flexible but her skin tainted blue.

Actress AnnaSophia Robb became established in the noughties as a child actor and later received recognition for her role as Carrie Bradshaw on the CW’s series The Carrie Diaries. Her next upcoming project Words on Bathroom Walls will be released later in 2019.
