Madame Hooch asked for a pay rise and instead got the sack

One character we all remember from the first Harry Potter film is Madame Hooch – even though she doesn’t appear in the rest of the franchise… She was Harry’s first flying instructor and Quidditch referee; a fairly important character considering Harry’s talent for Quidditch. Funnily enough, Madame Hooch appears in the rest of the book series but remains absent in the films. What happened there? According to the actress that played her, Zoe Wanamaker, Warner Bros. was incredibly stingy with her salary.  She demanded more money if the studio wanted to keep her but clearly they deemed that she wasn’t that important… OUCH. She was written out so if you’re curious, you’ll have to dust off your old copies of the books and get reading.
