Ty Burrell is a familiar face on the comedy show Modern Family as he plays the helpless and loving father Phil Dunphy.
Outside of his unconventional and chaotic family life on the show, though, Ty has his own perfect family, including two daughters and a stunning wife.
But who is Ty Burrell’s wife, Holly Burrell, and what does she do?
Who is Holly Burrell?
Ty Burrell has been married to his wife Holly Burrell since 2000.
Like Ty, she started her career in the world of theatre but is now a professional chef. Holly Burrell got her bachelors degree in theatre from the University of Utah and eventually met Ty at a theatre in Washington D.C.

They moved to New York to begin their acting careers, but while Ty found fame on Broadway, Holly gave up the glittering lights of entertainment to become a chef.
On the change of career, Holly Burrell said: “After a couple years, I decided I probably was not cut out for the business.
You have to really want to do it and I just didn’t have the thing you need. I was interested in other things.”
She ended up taking a pastry course at the French Culinary Institute in the U.S., and started work in a bakery. Holly gave up her job to move to California with Ty after the success of Modern Family, but still regularly uses her skills in the kitchen.
Speaking about Holly, Ty said: “My wife, Holly, is an amazing cook, so everything around what I make tastes great.”
Do They Have Children?
Sadly, Ty Burrell cannot have biological children. Instead, he and Holly have turned to adoption.
In 2020, the pair confirmed that they had adopted a baby girl called Frances. Two years later, their family grew as they adopted a second daughter, Gretchen.
Speaking about the adoption process, Ty said: “In a weird way, it wasn’t planned; it’s a weird thing how adoptions can sometimes be as irrational as regular birth.”

While Ty and Holly Burrell are typically private about their family life, Ty has been pictured with their daughters on a few occasions. In the pics, he looks remarkably like the goofy, happy dad Phil Dunphy from Modern Family.
The family split their time between L.A. and Utah, Holly’s home state. They also still own a two-bedroom apartment in Queens, New York, which they rent out.
They also own eating establishments across Utah, making use of Holly’s love of food.
Modern Family’s Ty Burrell
Ty Burrell was born in Oregon and attended Southern Oregon University. He also earned an MFA from Penn State University.
In the early 2000s, he appeared on Broadway in Macbeth, and in Dawn of the Dead and Black Hawk Down.
However, he got his big break in 2009 when he was cast as dad Phil Dunphy in the ABC sitcom Modern Family.

Phil Dunphy is father to three children and wife to Claire, who is constantly trying to make himself ‘cooler’ in the eyes of his children.
He received critical acclaim for the role, winning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series twice in 2011 and 2014.
Sadly, Modern Family came to an end in 2020 after an incredible 11 seasons. Unsurprisingly, the cast were sad to see the show end, and perhaps none more so than Ty.
He said:
“I had a sense for how it was going to be, but in the end… it was like a beautiful torture. It was like being at a wedding and a funeral at the same time.
We had a great week filming what was a beautifully written episode. But in every scene that got filmed towards the end, it got a little tearier and a little harder. And then when we finally got to the last day, it was more of the funeral part.”
