Comedian Ricky Gervais added another successful series to a long list of highly-acclaimed shows, including the The Office, Derek and Extras, as he co-produced, wrote and starred in the hit Netflix series.

Gervais repeatedly appears in lists of rich and influential people in magazines and online and with all these shows to his name, we’re wondering just how much the star is worth…

What Is Ricky Gervais’ Net Worth?

Ricky Gervais’ net worth is an estimated £104 million, due to his career in comedy and TV.

When his net worth was first shared online, the comedian joked about it, writing on his blog:

“Wow! I think there must be a leak at my accountants. They are of course spot on.

“I know it sounds a lot, but remember, I donate a lot of this to good causes. (The Inland Revenue mainly.)”

“Now this is out, I will have to get my family a million scratch cards each for Christmas.”

“I have decided to use the rest of the money to take over Libya.  I know I said I was going to start with Egypt but Karl said it was awful.)”

How Much Did He Earn From The Office?

Whilst Gervais is known for a variety of different endeavours through his career, including music, radio, stand up comedy, TV, animation, talk shows, books, and film, he’s arguably most recognisable for his role in The Office.

Although the exact figure is unknown, it is thought that Gervais made at least half of his fortune from the TV series, which lasted for eight years.

How Much Was He Paid For After Life?

Netflix has reportedly paid the British star £32 million for his stand up shows and writing work. The comedian was enticed by a further £5 million paycheck to write and direct a third series of his dark comedy After Life.

    The Sun reports:

“After Life smashed expectations again with the second series and Netflix wanted to tie Ricky down with a big money deal.

“They basically approached him with a blank cheque and after bashing out the finer details he will receive just over £5million for the third After Life.

“As part of the wider deal Ricky will also pen a couple of comedy shows and skits for Netflix.

“The publication goes on to suggest Ricky will meet with Netflix content boss Cindy Holland with tentative plans for the third season to air in Spring 2021 – depending on how filming plans can proceed amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.”

So, How Does He Spend His Money?

When it comes to his personal life, Ricky has never been married, nor does he have children. However, he’s been with his partner, Jane Fallon since 1982.

In terms of spending his money, Gervais has previously revealed that he gives a lot of his fortune to charities. He is best known for supporting animal rights. In 2015, it was reported that the comedian would leave all of his fortune to animal charities.
