Winston Elba: Who is James Bond hopeful Idris Elba’s son?
Being the son of award winning Luther star and James Bond hopeful Idris Elba gives you some rather large shoes to fill! So who is Winston Elba?
Winston Elba:
Winston Elba was born on April 17, 2014, in London to father Idris Elba and mother Naiyana Garth.
He is currently seven-years-old and absolutely adorable!
Due to his age he is largely kept out of the spotlight, but it is believed he is attending primary school and enjoying a relatively normal upbringing.
Idris and Naiyana dated for two and a half years before their split in 2016.
Much like his dad, Winston is a born and bred Londoner.
Idris Elba was born in Hackney, London, England, while Wiston was also born in London.
Winston holds a British-American nationality and can get an US passport.
Winston’s mother is also a British born, with the young boy being of mixed heritage.
His grandfather was a Sierra Leonean and his grandmother was a Ghanian.
Little Winston often visits his father who lives in Los Angeles, California and it appears the two have a loving relationship.
Idris Elba on being a dad:
Winston’s birth was announced back in 2014 by his dad on social media, as the 007 hopeful shared an adorable photo of his newborn son squeezing his finger.
Since then, Idris Elba has spoken many times about his love for being a dad.
He spoke about loving his children in a 2018 interview with People Magazine, after being crowned The Sexiest Man Alive.
When asked what his happiest moment was, Idris Elba’s answer was one that most parents can relate to.
“Being witness to the birth of my children is the biggest and best thing ever, I’m super doting, big hugs, kisses, lots of love-yous. I’m sure my daughter’s like, ‘All right Dad, chill out.’ My son is still at that age where he loves a cuddle.”

As Winston grows up his personality shines through more and more, with Idris sharing snippets of his life in an interview.
He explained that when Winston joined him on set of Luther he got a little disappointed when he found out he’s be too young to watch the show.
Speaking on a recent episode of British talk show Loose Women, Idris said: “We’ve just finished shooting Luther and [my son] came on set quite a bit, and he said ‘What age is this film?’ and I said ‘Oh it’s going to be a 15’, and he’s like ‘Oh man!’”

Winston was almost the second son:
Winston is Idris Elba’s only son. However, there was once upon a time where Idris thought he had fathered another child.
Since the heartbreaking incident, the Luther star has opened up about finding out a son he believed he had fathered, wasn’t actually his biological child.
In a resurfaced 2013 interview with GQ, the famous actor told the magazine that he was dating a woman in Florida, and even described himself as being in love with her.
When she became pregnant and gave birth to her son, Idris Elba initially celebrated what he thought was his second born child.
He’d already told friends and family and briefly name-dropped his second in a New York Times article.
He said: “The celebration of having a son – from a man’s perspective, it’s massive!”
However, his world soon came crashing down around him when an undisclosed source suggested that things may not have been what they seem.
Upon closer inspection of the situation, Idris Elba began to believe that the source was right.
“It wasn’t immediately obvious – well, it was, because he didn’t look like me. But it wasn’t immediately obvious what had gone down.”
The paternity test Elba would later go on to take confirmed that the child wasn’t his.
The news would be crushing for any man, and Idris didn’t hold back in describing the feeling at the time.
He told GQ: “To be given that and then have it taken away so harshly was like taking a full-on punch in the face: POW. You know, the truth is – like, even admitting it, I’ll probably get laughed at for the rest of my life. But it is just tragic, and it happened.”
Despite the hurtful news, the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 star stood right back up and moved on.
“I’ve not been an angel in my life, either – do you know what I’m saying? So to a certain extent, what goes around comes around. But for me in the future, I’m about being comfortable. That’s it.”
Winston Elba siblings:
Winston also has an older half-sister named Isan Elba.
Isan is the daughter of Idris and his first wife Hanne “Kim” Nørgaard.
She is currently 20-years old and absolutely gorgeous!
Since she was 16 she is said to have had her sights set on Hollywood, but not as an actor like her dad.
Growing up, Isan originally wanted to become an actress.
However, her famous father’s directorial stint in with the film “Yardie” steered her in a different direction according to Glamour.
She said: “I really got to see all of the behind-the-scenes, like what the sound department does, the lighting department, the best boy, etc. I didn’t even know what a best boy was before, and then getting to hang out with the producers, that was really cool. So I’m definitely thinking about being a filmmaker.”
However, she never seemed keen on sticking to just one path, saying she wants to do it all just like her dad.
“My dad is an actor, a DJ, a director, all of it. So I’ll probably be all over the place too,” she told Glamour.
“And don’t forget mental health advocate. “Yes, I love that title,” she said.
