Charles Bernard Foster: Who Is Jodie Foster’s Son?

Jodie Foster has had a long career in the public eye. She had one of her first starring roles in the TV show Paper Moon and the Disney film Napoleon and Samantha, both in the 1970s.

In that time, Jodie Foster has also had a bit of a tumultuous personal life. This includes two very public relationships and a horrifying case of stalking.

But what do we know about Jodie Foster’s children like Charles Bernard Foster? Read on to find out more…

Who is Charles Bernard Foster?

Charles Bernard Foster is Jodie Foster’s eldest son. He was born in 1998 when Jodie Foster was in a relationship with the producer Cydney Bernard. Jodie and her partner gave both their names to their son, in a sweet gesture.

Her son is now 23 years old but shows no inclination to go into the acting business like his mother – yet.

In an interview, Jodie Foster admitted that Charles Bernard Foster may someday go into acting. She said: “My older son is getting more interested in acting now, and I’m glad he discovered it late. My younger son is really shy and I can promise you he will never be an actor.”

Amanda Seyfried Husband: Everything You Need To Know

Charles Bernard Foster isn’t Jodie’s only child. She had her youngest son, Kit Bernard Foster in 2001. Both children would have been born via IVF, and the name of their father has never been revealed.

At the Golden Globes in 2013, Jodie Foster publicly acknowledged that her relationship with Cydney had come to an end. As her sons watched on in the audience, she accepted the Cecil B DeMille Award for lifetime achievement.

In her acceptance speech, Jodie confirmed that she was now single, and also hinted at her sexuality. The actress has never officially come out as gay, however in her speech that night she said:

“This is not going to be a big coming-out speech tonight because I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the stone age…

But now apparently I’m told that every celebrity is expected to honor the details of their private life with a press conference, a fragrance, and a primetime reality show.”

Who is Jodie Foster Married To?

Though Jodie split from her long-term partner Cydney – who Jodie called her “most beloved BFF of 20 years” – she is now happily married to another woman.

In April 2014, she married actress and photographer Alexandra Hedison. The couple had been dating for about eight months before tying the know. However, not much more is known about their relationship.

Alexandra is mainly known for her roles in the series Prey and The L Word. The actress actually used to date Ellen DeGeneres.

After Jodie won another Golden Globe for her performance in the film The Mauritanian this year, her wife posted a lovely tribute to her on Instagram.

She said: “What happens in quarantine stays in quarantine. Every day I’m a proud wife but today you get a special shout-out in the remote land of IG. I’ll have to show you my phone for you to see this but still…I’m shouting from the rooftops.”

Jodie Foster’s Career

While Jodie Foster prefers to keep her relationships and her sons Kit and Charles Bernard Foster behind closed doors, the star has had a whirlwind public career.

Many people will know her from her starring turn as a child prostitute in Martin Scorsese’s dark film Taxi Driver (1976). This was 13-year-old Jodie’s breakout role in adult films, though her age meant filming it was a bit different from usual.

Jodie had to undergo psychiatric assessment during filming due to the film’s extremely adult nature. Her older sister Connie also often stood in for Jodie during some scenes that were more adult.

While Jodie continued acting through the 80s and 90s, her next big role wouldn’t come until 2002. She took the main role in David Fincher’s thriller Panic Room, which ended up being the actor’s most successful film opening at the time.

This year, Jodie received the Honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for lifetime achievement.
