Alex Damian Santos: Everything We Know About Romeo Santos’ Son

Romeo Santos is one of the most successful bachata musicians in the world. As the lead singer in the bachata band Aventura, he’s made millions in album sales and been nominated for Billboard Music Awards.

Outside of his musical career, though, very little is known about Romeo Santos. The “king of bachata” is typically a very private star, not letting anyone know anything about his family life.

So, what do we actually know about his son, Alex Damian Santos?

Who is Alex Damian Santos?

Alex Damian Santos is the eldest son of Romeo Santos. While sources aren’t agreed on whether Alex was born in 2001 or 2002 (making him either 19 or 20 years old), we do know that Romeo was practically still a teen when he was born.

The world-famous 40-year-old singer was likely just 20 or 21 when Alex Daniam Santos was born.

We also don’t know who Alex’s mother is – Romeo has kept that particular piece of information quiet. However, some fans surmise that Alex Damian Santos’ mother is Samantha Medina.

Unsurprising given who his father is, Alex Damian Santos has a reported net worth of around $2 million.

In an interview with The Breakfast Club, Romeo opened up about what it was like being such a young father. He said:

“With my first kid, I was a kid having a kid. I was a coward, so I ran, I wasn’t in a relationship at the time, it was just something that happened. I have a great relationship with Alex, it’s been great for over a decade.

You have to be there for your kids in every sense of the word.”

Romeo Santos’ Career

Romeo Santos was born in the Bronx, New York City, and has a Dominican father and a Puerto Rican mother. His passion for Latin music started young, and he first started singing in a church choir.

He formed his band Aventura in 1996 and they went from strength to strength. However, in 2011, Romeo announced that he was leaving Aventura to start his solo career.

Romeo achieved the same incredible levels of fame on his own as with Aventura. In 2014, he sold out a show at Yankee Stadium and became the first Latin artist to headline the famous stadium.

In 2019, Romeo also announced the birth of his second son, Valentino Santos. Eagle-eyed fans will know that Romeo announced the birth of Instagram, posting a picture of his new album, Utopia, with his son’s feet in shot. He captioned the photo ‘Mis dos nuevos bebés año’ – my two new babies this year.

Later, though, the picture disappeared from Romeo’s Instagram account.

In an interview with Billboard, he did address becoming a father for the second time, saying:

“Look, it’s a very tremendous feeling, that was partly what fit — and when I say fit, it was organic. I also used this to break the news to people that I have a new production and that I also have a baby — those were things that came up organically, which is not like I say, ‘I’m going to have a baby and then I’ll announce it.’

But to answer you, it’s such a nice feeling, I still live in my head, I still think of the day he was born, all the moments, I’m enjoying it fully, both things, I’m in a double celebration.”

Aventura’s Comeback

For many fans, Aventura’s breakup in 2011 came as a disappointment. They were just reaching new heights, having sold out Madison Square Gardens twice in the last few years.

However, fans needn’t have worried, as their breakup ended up just being a hiatus.

In 2015, they reunited for a brief tour, which ended up being cut short by Romeo’s tour schedule. A few years later, they angered fans after the band teased a new song that was to be released the same evening.

However, that teaser turned out to be an April Fools Joke – which many fans took offense to. Actually, the single ended up being real and was released on Romeo Santos’ fourth studio album Utopia.

Finally, in late 2019, Aventura fans got what they had been waiting for. The bachata band announced a full reunion tour, Aventura’s first since 2011.
