Russell Howard is one of the country’s most famous and best-loved comedians. He’s appeared on Mock the Week and has hosted his own comedy show, Russell Howard’s Good News.

However, despite his fame, many people don’t know anything about one of the most important people in his life – his wife, Cerys Morgan.

So who exactly is Cerys Morgan, and what does she do?

Let’s find out…

Who is Cerys Morgan?

Russell Howard has been on TV for close to 15 years now, but he’s always kept his private life pretty private.

However, we do know a little bit about Russell Howard’s personal life.

He met his future wife, Cerys Morgan, when he was 21 and she was 17. Cerys was a friend of Russell’s sister, Kerry (who is famous in her own right – she’s an actress).

They didn’t start dating until 2004 when Russell was 24 and Cerys was 20.

Josh Widdicombe Wife: Who Is The Comedian Married To?

On Christmas Day 2018, while appearing on Alan Carr’s Christmas Cracker, Russell revealed that he would soon be getting married.

Russell and Cerys Morgan ended up tying the knot in June 2019. In September 2019, Russell revealed some details of the do and his proposal on The Jonathan Ross Show.

He said: “In Japan, I asked her to marry me and she said yes and then I went and had a fight. I had a sumo fight to do – that was literally three hours after my wife had made me incredibly happy.”

Their beloved pet dog Archie was the ring bearer at their wedding, and the event was attended by comedians including Greg Davies.

Russell now lives with his wife Cerys Morgan in Camden, North London.

What does Cerys Morgan do?

Actually, Cerys Morgan has been very busy over the last two years thanks to her career.

She is an NHS Consultant working at Imperial NHS, an NHS Trust that covers St Mary’s, Hammersmith, Charing Cross, Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea and Western Eye hospitals.

Cerys specialises in geriatric care, including caring for patients who have undergone neurosurgery, general surgery, and orthopaedics. She graduated from Warwick Medical School ten years ago.

Holly Walsh: Who Is The Comedian And Mock The Week Star?

During the pandemic, Cerys Morgan was a frontline worker helping to treat Covid patients. Because of Cerys’ work, she and Russell Howard had to live apart for a while.

Just before the Covid pandemic hit, Cerys had planned to take a leave of absence to travel. However, that was cut short after just three weeks and she returned to the hospital to help treat patients.

On Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, Russell explained that he had moved back into his parents’ house in Bath while Cerys remained in London.

He explained: “She’s working for the NHS, so she’s a frontline doctor. And she’s also got a couple of doctors living with her, who have got elderly relatives so it kind of felt like the most sensible thing to do, was to unfortunately live apart.

It’s heartbreaking but it’s for the greater good.”

Where did Russell Howard start comedy?

Russell Howard is now one of the biggest comedy stars in the UK, but how did he get there?

The comedian got his first big break in 2004 when the BBC commissioned him to write and perform on the comedy show The Milk Run.

One year later, his set was selected as one of the best comedic performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2006, he won Best Compère award at the Chortle Awards and was nominated for an award for his Aberdeen Fringe Festival show.

He was a regular on Mock the Week for many years, and his show Russell Howard’s Good News won the Best Ever BBC Three Show in 2013.

Recently, Russell Howard confessed that he has given all of his social media logins to his manager. He explained that he couldn’t cope with comments from trolls anymore and was giving up on his online life. The comedian said:

“There’ll be like one out of 50 that’s super horrible, rather than focusing on the kind things, and my brain focuses on the negative. So I just don’t bother with it.

If I want to do comedy I can go to a comedy club. Social media is the worst comedy club in the world because people aren’t there to laugh.”
