She came into the limelight after her jaw-dropping performance in the musical drama, ‘Stomp the Yard: Homecoming’, in which she played a leading role.
Tika Sumpter became even more popular when she starred in the ABC series, ‘One Life to Live’ as Layla Williamson.
Ms Sumpter has been nominated for numerous awards over the years, including the prestigious Black Reel Award.

Nicholas James is an American actor originally from Greenville, Pennsylvania
James is well known for his appearances in Prom Night and NCIS: New Orleans and his work as a model.
However, the star is best known for his recurring role, since 2016, as Officer Justin Lewis in the television series The Haves and the Have Nots.
In fact, this Oprah Winfrey Network primetime soap opera is where he and Tika first crossed paths, as she also starred on the show.
Tika mentioned in an interview that she was attracted to James right from the first glance, and the couple hit it off straight away!
She became pregnant with their daughter, Ella-Loren, that same year, and Nicholas regularly shares adorable snaps of her.
Tika Sumpter’s secret relationship with Nick James:
Tika Sumpter and Nick James have reportedly been together since 2016.
However, their relationship was tightly under wraps for years!
When they welcomed baby Ella in October of 2016, Tika refused to reveal who the father was.
The Mixed-ish star went on to tell Fit Pregnancy in 2016 that she had no interest in hearing anyone’s negativity at that time.
“I didn’t want to hear, ‘Who’s the dad?’” she said.
“Social media can be harsh, and I’m a mama bear, protective of my family. So that’s why I waited to tell people, including some of my friends.”

After five years engaged to fiancé Nick James, Tika could already be married.
She said the pandemic had her ready to walk down the aisle as soon as possible back in February 2021.
This time last year she spoke out about her relationship a conversation with ESSENCE.
She may not have shared what was behind her and James waiting all these years to tie the knot, but she did say that a big celebration with family and friends was something she’s been craving after so much time in quarantine.
She said “I’m ready now. We’ve been engaged for like four years [laughs]. Like, literally, once this pandemic [is over] I want to have a party. I’m like, yo, we all deserve a party. You know what I mean? Like, we deserve a party,” she said when asked about wedding plans.
“I’m more about just, family’s getting older, some family members passed away from COVID complications, so more than ever now it’s about just getting family and friends — that to me is like, life. Experiences is life. Stuff is great, it’s nice, blah blah. But being with the people you love? So hopefully next year. We’re going to plan it this year and then hopefully have it next year.”
Tika Sumpter and Nick James engagement:
Tika Sumpter announced her engagement news back in 2017, sharing that James went all out for the Christmas holiday engagement.
“Yeah, I’m engaged,” she shared on The Real.
“He did all of these amazing things. I went on a little hunt in the house. And I was like, ‘Oh, he’s going to propose.’”
He tricked her initially, with the gift she was hunting for being “a Peloton bike he bought me.”
“I was like, ‘Oh, that’s cool!’” she laughed.
But James did surprise her by writing a special message hidden by their newborn daughter Ella, which led to his proposal.
“It was just simple, and just awesome. It’s been burning a hole in his pocket for a while, so he was like, ‘I wanted to do this now.’”
It’s been a year since Tika said she’s dying to get married, it’s still unclear whether or not she had her dream ceremony yet.
The wedding was due to be planned last year, and take place this year.
However, with the actress being notoriously private, we won’t rule out a secret wedding just yet!
