Naked Attraction: Things You Never Knew About The Show!

Naked Attraction (Channel 4) is arguably the most controversial dating shows on TV, and is definitely one you don’t want to watch with your parents.

The Channel 4 programme is the dating game show with a twist – and that’s putting it lightly!

If you thought Love Island was shallow, you haven’t seen anything yet! Naked Attraction’s premise is that a contestant chooses the person they would like to go on a date with simply by the way they look. Oh, and find love.

Starting from the bottom of their body working all the way to the top and finishing with their voice, viewers get to see a range of body types. I know what you’re thinking, doesn’t sound too bad does it! That’s because we didn’t mention that these people are fully starkers!

It doesn’t matter if you’re a man, woman or gender neutral – the show’s open to anyone and everyone! No wonder it’s on after the watershed. In this article we are going to bare all (sorry not sorry) of the facts about Naked Attraction – and we will warn you, this is not for the easily offended…

1) Anna Richardson Has Presented Other Controversial Shows…

The show is presented by the one and only Anna Richardson; one of Channel 4’s most cult presenters.

Not one to shy away from awkward topics, Richardson has also presented Channel 4’s The Sex Education Show, similar to Embarrassing Bodies, and all of its sequels. As a result, Naked Attraction, which is also shown on Channel 4, must be like a walk in the park for her!

Richardson has stated:

“I’m not afraid to talk about anything and I want to try to dispel any taboo,”

She goes on to say:

“You shouldn’t be ashamed to talk about being vulnerable, so I’m OK with my body language, my nakedness and being mentally naked.”

After an eighteen year relationship with a man, Richardson herself started a same-sex relationship with fellow TV presenter, Sue Perkins.

Talking about her relationship, she’s said:

“People think it’s about sex. It’s not about sex. It’s about the person.”

2) They Film Butt Naked For 12 Hours!

Although each naked attraction contestant on the Channel 4 show is only shown for half an hour, it takes much longer than that to film.

Apparently, filming for each of the show’s episodes can last for up to twelve hours – can you imagine being naked in front of strangers for that amount of time?

Although, the person who is choosing a date only has to be naked for fifteen minutes, seems unfair, right!? We don’t know how virgin Josh will have felt about this.

3) Each Contestant Has A Chaperone

The aim of Naked Attraction is for someone to pick a contestant to go on a date with by the way they look, rather than their personality (we promise it is registered trademark and there are strict terms and conditions!).

Therefore, the producers of the show make sure that the ‘picker’ has someone with them at all times.

Even to the loo?! I guess this show is hands on. Oi, your minds went there, not ours!

The reason this is done is so that the ‘picker’ doesn’t accidentally meet one of their ‘options’.

So I guess that means that the contestants have to walk around the studio naked too? Surely they’re at least given a dressing gown – sorry, I mean robe…

4) Ryan Stephenson Went On To Raise Awareness Of Cystic Fibrosis

Stephenson was twenty-four when he decided he would apply to be a star on the show.

However, in a later interview, he revealed he only applied after several failed attempts applying for other ITV shows, e.g. The Cube.

He was born with cystic fibrosis, and has been estimated to live until 42. He wanted to appear on the show to raise awareness of the condition.

I guess not many people have promoted the condition on a naked game/dating show. Good on him for being so brave!

5) If You’re On Standby, You Get Paid!

Like any other game show, there are contestants that are on ‘standby’ who wait behind the scenes.

If you’re on standby and don’t end up on the show, contestants are reported to get paid £75.

So you get paid money for sitting in a room. Sign me up! Hmmm, maybe; do you think you have to wait around in the nude?

However, if you do end up appearing on the show, you don’t get paid a penny.

Unless you’re desperate to get another half, I think sitting in the room doing nothing sounds like the better option!
