Who Played Reed Adamson in Grey’s Anatomy?

Actress Noah Zehetner played Reed on Grey’s Anatomy in 2009 – 2010. Noah is an American TV actress born in El Paso, Texas, and was only 18-years old when she started her acting career.

Zehetner moved to Los Angeles to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a TV actress.

Does she look familiar?

Prior to joining Grey’s Anatomy, you might recognize her supporting roles in Tart (2001), American Pie 2 (2001), R.S.V.P. (2002), May (2002), and The Song of Rose (2003).

If she looked familiar when she entered the hit-TV show, it’s also because she starred in NBC’s Heroes as Eden McCai.

And in 2009 – 2010 she had a recurring role on Grey’s Anatomy as Reed Adamson. She also featured in the web series, Seattle Grace: On Call – the first webisode series of Grey’s Anatomy.

The show takes place on New Year’s Eve with a timeline of during and after the events of Holidaze.

Ugly First Impression on Reed’s Character

Reed was first introduced and welcomed in season 10 when the Seattle Grace hospital had a merger with Mercy West. On her first day, she argued with Izzie after taking George’s cubby, which they had been leaving empty.

This certainly left an unpleasant first impression on her character.

Despite her arrogance, Reed had some iconic lines in the show. Especially when she butted heads with Alex Karev. Her smug one-liner directed to the rude master, Alex Karev himself was pretty iconic.

“Are you really so messed up you can’t let one person be nice to you?”

It seems butting heads with Alex Karev was only a facade to hide her true feelings for him. According to the Grey’s Anatomy universe wiki, she had an interest in Alex Karev, stating there was something special about him during a conversation with Jackson Avery.

So… Why Was Reed Written Off the Show?

The real reason Dr. Reed Adamson was written off the show was because of fans expressing their unfavorable opinions about her. Many fans grew to despise her the longer she was on the show.

Seeing as there was no way for Reed to redeem herself, she was written out in the season finale instead.

She was murdered by grieving widower, Gary Clark because she refused to help him locate Derek Shepherd, as she had a patient to attend to. This was her only redeeming quality while on the show.

Fans Opinions Swayed The Decision

Many fans expressed that her character was rude and annoying. Only a minority of fans thought she could have a good character arc, but producers thought otherwise.

Reed’s colleagues in the hospital seemed to grow as the episodes moved on but her character stayed the same callous person. Hence, the producers decided her storyline should end in the season 10 finale.

Who Did Reed Date on the Show?

Some episodes showed Ree flirting with Alex Karev for a while and comforted him during his divorce from Izzie Stevens

She also had a spicy one-night stand with Mark Sloan after a party at Derek Shepher’s house. At the time, Mark Sloan was also seeing Teddy Altman, though the pair (Mark and Teddy) weren’t exclusive at the time.

One of the cringiest moments was when Teddy walked in on the both of them having sex on his couch. Yikes.

Who Was Reed Close To on Grey’s Anatomy?

April Kepner, her Christian roommate, and best friend, was the only one who seemed to tolerate Reed for the duration of the show. When Reed’s character died in season 10, April took her death the worse.
