Elle Darby tweets:

The online disappearance of British Youtube star Elle Darby follows the backlash she received after dozens of her old tweets were unearthed from 2011.

The 26-year-old mom spoke out about the tweets on her YouTube channel, telling fans she was ‘disgusted’ with herself for the nature of the comments she made in the past.

However, with more than 50 tweets discriminating against minorities, fans are very upset.

The tweets, published ten years ago, has caused an outrage across social media platforms.

As a result, Elle has since deleted her Twitter account.

The words were truly shocking, with one tweet from her account reading: “I just hate Polish people and Indians really.”

In 2011, Elle’s account posted another tweet, which read: “This bus is sweaty and stinks of Indians.”

In another post, she stated: “Why do foreign people follow me? I don’t speak your grunts, meatheads.”

Elle Darby tweets aftermath and fiancée:

Following the discovery of the tweets, Elle lost thousands of her followers in the space of a few weeks.

In yet another offensive post, Elle proclaimed: “Watching these Polish people argue on a train is my Saturday night entertainment.”

There were many more posts which continued along the same lines.

There was a regular use of hateful language, including the use of racial slurs on several occasions.

But Elle is not the only one whose past is catching up with her.

Her fiancée Connor Swift has also been accused of posting racist content.

In a tweet from 2012, he said: “Looked like a black man after work, through all the dust I’d collected. #StillLookedHot.”

Fan reaction:

As a result of the hurtful messages, many long-term fans vowed to cut ties with the couple.

Twitter user ‘fifi1234321’ commented in response to the situation: “If your immediate reaction to this Ella Derby/Connor Swift situation isn’t to unfollow them then you’re facilitating racism. I’ve been a fan for four years and that ended the minute I saw her tweets.”

‘Blixberrie’ noted: “Elle Darby really has an offensive tweet for every single minority group going.”

‘SophieJane96x’ added: “The thing is with these Elle Darby/Connor Swift tweets, it’s not like it’s a single tweet. That would be bad enough. There are continuous and repeated displays of racism towards Black, Indian and Polish people in particular. They shouldn’t be able to come back from this.”

Elle Darby apologises for racist tweets:

The couple has responded on Instagram with an apology in an attempt to smooth things over.

Elle stated: “These comments are not a reflection of who either of us are as grown adults, nor who we were at the time they were made, and do not align with what we stand for.

“We are beyond angry at ourselves and ashamed that our behaviour will have been hurtful to some of you who have supported our family for so long. We can only wish for your forgiveness.”

Connor also stated on the main feed of his Instagram: “This is the biggest lesson I could ever learn and I want to be held accountable for what I said and hold my hands up and apologise.

“I will not justify my actions and accept full responsibility for this whilst also knowing I will continue to learn, and continue to grow.”

Elle Darby now:

Since the tweets were uncovered, people have been speculating about how she might be doing, and where she is now.

Her brand, the ‘Angelle Collection’ released a new line of hoodies on March 16, sparking the question as to whether the influencer is about to make a return.

TikToker Ella May Houghton stated: “This is the first sign of life in like four months.”

Taking to the brand’s Instagram page, she hinted that the business had not yet stopped filtering customers’ comments.

She said: “I just had a look at their comments section, and as you can see comments are still limited so I don’t know what that says. A lot of these comments do look positive but I wonder if that’s because they are filtering them.”

Angelle Collection, Elle Darby’s clothing brand sent an email to customers at the beginning of March which has also been circulating online.

It said: “As you are likely to know, our founders were recently at the front of public media criticism for past comments. Much like all of you, the team and supporting members of our Angelle and SWFT operations were disappointed and do not support the words that were shared. Elle and Connor have made their statements of apology and are taking some time away from social media. Angelle and SWFT employ and support a team of people, who continue to be committed to the original core values; positivity, community and inclusivity. We are grateful for your support since the brands started. We are nothing without you; the community that joined our journey… We have taken the last few months to reflect on how we manage our business and understand what we can change, and we will be making changes going forward.”
