As the Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Angela Rayner is always in the public eye. When she’s not campaigning in her constituency of Ashton-Under-Lyme, she’s arguing with Tories on the floor of the Commons.

Since she’s so often photographed,  it’s been hard not to notice Angela Rayner’s weight loss over the last few years. Having gone through a dramatic transformation, she looks very different from a few years ago.

But what do we really know about Angela Rayner’s weight loss journey?

Angela Rayner Weight Loss

The 37-year-old Labour MP from Stockport has recently accomplished a massive weight loss journey. Angela Rayner’s weight loss is undeniable, and she looks almost unrecognisable in pictures from a few years ago.

According to sources, Angela started shedding weight with the help of a liquid-only diet.

After that, she went on a strict course of calorie-counting, going so far as to cut her portion sizes in half.

A source said: “Her willpower is phenomenal and she will often just eat half a portion of whatever is put on her plate before offering the rest around.

If we are not careful, we will all be piling on the weight while she loses it.”

but Angela Rayner’s weight loss isn’t the only noticeable transformation in the Labour Party. Former politician Tom Watson also shed a significant amount of weight.

Tom Watson lost seven stone after a diabetes diagnosis and credits the keto diet with his transformation.

He also swapped his regular coffee for a ‘bulletproof coffee’ – a black coffee with grass-fed cow butter mixed in it.

Explaining this strange choice of diet, Tom said: “It’s basically butter from grass-fed cows blended with fresh coffee – the idea is to get saturated fats into your diet so that you’re not as hungry during the day.

“Does it taste nice? It tastes like milky coffee, as you’d imagine, when you think about the source of butter.”

Who is Angela Rayner?

Angela Rayner has been an MP since 2015. She considers herself a socialist and was first appointed as a Minister by Jeremy Corbyn.

She now works as the Shadow Chancellor for the Duchy of Lancaster, Shadow Minister for the Cabinet Office, and the Shadow Secretary of State for the Future of Work.

Angela frequently campaigns for education and the NHS, and has even called for a National Education Service to improve funding for schools.

Pegged as a future leader of the Labour party, Angela came from a very modest background.

She was born in Stockport, Greater Manchester and left school at 16 after becoming pregnant – with no qualifications.

The MP later trained in social care and worked as a care worker for Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council. She got her first taste of politics as a trade union rep for Unison, the largest trade union in the UK.

Now, Angela is a prominent MP and a grandmother. Her 20-year-old son recently had a baby and she’s frequently on baby duty, as seen on her Instagram.

Angela Rayner Controversy

Angela found herself in hot water earlier this year when she had to apologise for calling Conservatives ‘scum’.

The MP made the comments at the Labour Party Conference in Brighton in September, during an evening speech.

She said: “We cannot get any worse than a bunch of scum, homophobic, racist, misogynistic, absolute vile … banana republic, vile, nasty, Etonian… piece of scum.”

Just a month later, she was forced to apologise after backlash from both Conservative and Labour MPs alike.

Leader of the Labour Party, Keir Starmer, reacted to her comments by saying: “Angela and I take different approaches, and that’s not language that I would use.”

She was also criticised by Labour MPs Lisa Nandy and Ed Miliband.

In her apology, Angela stated that she would “continue to speak her mind,” but apologised for the specific language used.

Her statement read: “I was angry about where our country is headed, and policies that have made life harder for so many people I represent.

But I would like to unreservedly apologise for the language I used, and I would not use it again.”
