Alberta Dornan: How Many Children Does Jamie Dornan Have?

Jamie Dornan has had something of a career resurgence over the last year. He’s earned praise for his appearance in the Oscar-winning film Belfast and has had viewers glued to the screens in the thriller The Tourist.

But the actor is also a busy family man. He’s been married to his current wife for almost ten years and has multiple children with her.

So, what’s the lowdown on Jamie Dornan’s children? Let’s find out about Alberta Dornan and the others…

Alberta Dornan and…

Jamie Dornan met the actress and singer-songwriter Amelia Warner in 2007, and their relationship blossomed – they were together for six years before tying the knot. Since then, they’ve had a grand total of three children together.

Their youngest child, Alberta Dornan was born in 2019. At that time, Jamie had just completed a run of films including the Fifty Shades trilogy, A Private War, and Robin Hood. It was clearly a busy time for the actor dad!

Recently, Jamie has spoken out about little Alberta Dornan, telling Ellen DeGeneres: “She’s going to be three in February… we call her the hurricane. She’s a lot. She’s amazing, but a lot of energy.”

Aside from Alberta Dornan, Jamie and Amelia share two other children: Dulcie Dornan, 8, and Elva Dornan, 5.

But are there any more on the horizon? Well, Jamie is vague on that. In December 2020, he said: “Part of me feels like [I need] to put a cork in it after this. But then, alternatively, I feel like we make really great kids.

Maybe we’ll just — if my wife’s willing — do it until we can’t do it anymore.”

Who is His Wife?

Jamie Dornan met Amelia Warner in 2010, and it seems like Jamie was smitten straight away. He explained how they met at a house party of a mutual friend.

“I always fancied her and we were doing karaoke and a friend of ours came in and said ‘listen Amelia Warner is in a house party and she’s single’. I literally dropped the mic and was like, you know, run for the hills.”

The story of their relationship gets even better. The two met on the steps of their friend’s house, and in 2012, Jamie proposed at the very same place that they met.

Jamie and Amelia eventually married at the beautiful Babington House in Somerset in 2013. Now, the whole family lives in a £1.75 million farmhouse in the Cotswolds.

Speaking about choosing to live in Gloucestershire, Amelia said:  “[I feel a] tremendous sense of coming home and what that meant, and of this house being where we were meant to be.”

But Jamie had one other big high-profile romance before Amelia. Jamie Dornan met actress Keira Knightley at a photo shoot in 2003, and they started dating shortly afterwards.

The stars were together until 2005 when the pressure of Keira Knightley’s fame supposedly got to Jamie.

Years after their breakup, Jamie revealed: “You can feel a bit second-rate and that’s what started to happen. It’s not like I was bringing the bread to the table — and that can start to affect everything.”

Tragedy for Jamie

Last year, a family tragedy struck Jamie Dornan as his father Jim Dornan passed away after getting Covid-19.

At the time, Jamie was stuck in quarantine in Australia where he was due to film The Tourist. His father had been admitted to a hospital in Dubai for an operation, but tragically came down with the virus while he was there.

With four days left on his quarantine when he got the tragic news, this meant that Jamie was unable to leave to go see his father.

Earlier this year, Jamie revealed that he still has not said goodbye to his father as a funeral hasn’t happened yet.

Jamie explained: “I hadn’t seen my dad since Christmas 2019 because of the restrictions. We haven’t had a funeral for my dad yet. We are 10 months exactly now.”

Jamie has been busy promoting his film Belfast, in which he plays the character Pa, an Irish father in a suburb of the city, which he says has been difficult since his dad’s death.

“I’ve probably stopped crying in [interviews] so much. It’s been cathartic and in a way helpful to be bringing out this film, of all films, and to be talking about it so much in the passing months after we lost him.”
