Does Adam Lambert Have a Wife?

The truth is, Adam Lambert actually doesn’t have a wife – and for very good reason.

The American Idol star is actually gay, and though he has always been open about his sexuality, he wasn’t out publicly when he auditioned for the show.

The singer came out publicly in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine after the finale had aired.

Speaking about his experience of being a gay contestant on American Idol, Adam said: “When I first auditioned, I was like, ‘No way, this won’t work,’ cause I had seen people who were obviously queer on the show before, and it seemed to be something they were rejected over.

I said, ‘Why not? I’ll just try it.’ And every time I stayed in, I was like, ‘Wow, I can’t believe this is actually happening.’ Then I realized this is my shot. I might as well go for it. I might as well have fun with it. And so I took it as far as I possibly could.”

Despite his sexual ambiguity on the show – alternately channelling macho style and femme makeup – many fans had guessed at the star’s sexuality.

In the middle of the American Idol competition, photos emerged of Adam kissing another man. The singer didn’t hide but admitted they were of him.

However, Adam attested that he had always been open about sexuality, and lived openly as a gay man in California before entering the competition.

In 2019, Adam said that the landscape for LGBTQ+ people in America had changed substantially since he first entered the industry. He explained: “It’s a totally different landscape. There is much more visibility so it doesn’t feel like a foreign or scary concept.”
