Though Dan regularly works at the BBC’s main offices in Salford, Manchester, the family live in Sheffield. They moved back to the city in 2018, with Dan saying: “My wife Sarah and I moved to Sheffield last year because it’s played a big part in our lives – we both studied here and it’s where I began broadcasting.”

Though he doesn’t give much away about his wife, we do know that Sarah Walker is a keen baker.

On the occasion of a family birthday this year, Dan posted a picture of a delicious cake, saying: We have a family birthday today and Mrs Walker has made @Nigella Lawson’s maple and pecan cake with meringue icing. Take a good look at it because it has already gone.”

Though Dan doesn’t share photos of his wife and children very often, there is another family member who gets introduced to the internet. The family also have a gorgeous cockapoo puppy called Winnie.

Dan has also given a tour around the family home he shares with his wife Sarah. He has an impressive country-style kitchen with an island, plus a home office and a massive garden with chic garden furniture.

Dan slipped up during their Sleeping Beauty-themed routine, and they came away with just 21 points – the second-lowest of the night.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast later, Dan blamed it on a busy week. He explained: “I interviewed the prime minister last week and had a lot going on last week. I don’t think I’ve ever been so tired in my entire life.

I just had a little moment where I had a brain fade.”

So far, baker and previous Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite is the favourite to win the show. Last week, he came within one point of a maximum score.
