Vanessa Feltz is one of Britain’s best-known entertainers and presenters. She has been on our screens for over 20 years, starting with her own ITV show, Vanessa.

Behind her larger-than-life on-screen personality, though, Vanessa has suffered through painful personal drama.

She was married to Michael Kurer for 16 years, from 1983 to 2000, and the presenter has only just opened up about her, at times difficult, relationship.

So what do we know about Michael Kurer?

Who Is Michael Kurer?

Vanessa Feltz married Michael Kurer in 1983. He completed his medical degree at UCL Medical School in London and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and qualified in 1982.

The pair had two children together, Allegra and Saskia.

Sadly, the couple’s marriage broke down after Vanessa found out that Michael was having an affair with a younger colleague. Their children were 10 and 13 years old at the time.

This year, Vanessa finally spoke about finding out about her husband’s affair when a journalist called her. She said:

“My whole life just collapsed and just shattered into a million pieces. It was absolutely astounding. 31 years later and I can barely even describe to you the shock of it.

Your future is gone, your past you realise was probably built on an absolute tissue of lies because whatever you thought you were doing wasn’t true.”

Michael left Vanessa and the divorce was finalised. After the split, Vanessa said that some of her friends left her side, as well as members of her local Jewish community.

Finding Another Love

Vanessa Feltz and Michael Kurer divorced in 2000. He still works as a surgeon, at North Middlesex University Hospital.

Thankfully, it wasn’t long before Vanessa found love again, and in 2006 she got engaged to singer-songwriter Ben Ofoedu. Vanessa and Ben met through a mutual friend, Keith Duffy, at the Amy Winehouse Foundation Gala.

The pair were due to marry the year after, but have so far just remained fiancées, and Vanessa has revealed that the reason for that is money.

In 2018, she said: “I think we should do crowdfunding. If someone gives us money for a wedding, we’ll take it.

I spent all my money on a gastric band which hasn’t worked that well. Then I married off both of my daughters, so it was expensive.”

Vanessa Feltz’s Career

Vanessa Feltz’s net worth is valued at approximately $52 million – but how did she earn her wealth?

She started her career on the morning TV show The Big Breakfast and then gained her own ITV chat show, Vanessa and then The Vanessa Show.

Later, she joined BBC Radio London and starred in the first series of Celebrity Big Brother, but was evicted on day four.

In the late 2000s and 2010s, she made regular appearances on chat shows like The Wright Stuff and Big Brother’s Bit on the Side but mostly remained on the radio.

The BBC revealed that, with Claudia Winkleman and Zoe Ball, Vanessa Feltz was one of the highest-paid female BBC presenters.

What is Vanessa Feltz Doing Now?

Now, Vanessa Feltz is a regular face on This Morning with seasoned presenters Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby and also continued to present her shows on BBC Radio 2 and BBC London.

She lives in an incredible £3.5 million townhouse in London with her fiancé Ben. At home, the couple have separate rooms, with Vanessa saying that this adds “mystique” to her relationship.

During lockdown in 2020, Vanessa revealed that the relationship hasn’t all been plain sailing, though.

She said: “Ben and I have been bickering away like hell. We’re arguing quite a lot and certainly much more than we usually do.

Also making up more than we usually do and being really grateful for each other and detesting each other all at the same time.”

Vanessa has been on grandma duties since the birth of her first grandchild, Zekey, Allegra’s first son. She went on to have a daughter, Neroli. In 2019, her youngest daughter Saskia also gave birth to a boy called Amiel.
