The 30-year-old DJ is said to have been brought in with just 48 hours to go after the superstar producer – whose real name is Shahid Khan – had to pull out of the ITV show.

An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column:

‘Shah was so excited to take part in the show as it would’ve been such a great platform for him to step out from behind the scenes a bit.

‘He’s an absolute megastar in music and has worked with all sorts of people from Emeli Sande, Sam Smith and Zayn Malik to Beyonce, but only a few people know what the man behind the hits is really like.

‘Shah is really humble and actually quite shy, but he has so many great anecdotes about the people he’s worked with’.

Although ITV bosses were disappointed he had to drop out, they were delighted with the way Jordan fared on the show, as he finished runner-up as Giovanna Fletcher was named Queen of the Castle.

    The source added:

‘Producers were gutted when he dropped out and hope he might be able to take part in future years, but they could never have foreseen the success Jordan then had’.

Meanwhile, Jordan has revealed how the campmates would often sing Disney, Queen or The Beatles songs – which ITV couldn’t get “cleared” – to let their co-stars have private conversations.

    He explained:

‘Before we went in, we were told not to sing any songs by Queen, The Beatles or Disney because we can’t get them cleared.

‘That means you’ve got to get the rights for it.

‘So if we were having a conversation that we didn’t want to go on air, we’d have a conversation and we’d get someone in the background to sing ‘I Want To Break Free”.
