Stars have taken to social media in their droves to pay tribute to the late comedian Bobby Ball

The TV legend passed away aged 76 at Blackpool Victoria Hospital 28.10.20 after testing positive for coronavirus, and he has been remembered by several comedians, including Les Dennis, who described The Cannon and Ball Show star as a “true entertainer”.
Les wrote on Twitter:
‘Just heard the sad news that the wonderful Bobby Ball has died. He was a true entertainer with real funny bones. Thoughts with Tommy, Yvonne and his family at this sad time. RIP Bobby (sic)’.
Comedian Kate Robbins tweeted:
‘I’m so terribly sad to hear that the brilliant Bobby Ball has died. Apparently he had corona virus. God bless your beautiful soul Bobby. You were so funny and lovely. Rest in peace Bob. Xxx (sic)’.
Screenwriter Jeff Pope has been left “utterly devastated” by Bobby’s passing.
He tweeted:
‘I am utterly devastated at the death of my friend Bobby Ball. Very rarely in life do you get the chance to work with somebody who has funny bones – you just had to look at him and he made you laugh. He was a 5ft 4in comedy giant. God bless Bob, love to Yvonne and the family. (sic)’.
TV presenter Jason Manford also admitted he has been left “heart-broken” to hear of Bobby’s death.
He wrote:
‘So heartbroken to read about the passing of comedy legend Bobby Ball. Such a hilarious man. The comedy community is a poorer place without him. (sic)’.

Strictly Come Dancing star and comedian Rufus Hound was in tears as he paid tribute to Bobby.
He wrote on Twitter:
‘There are plenty of comedians – brilliant funny men and women – whose writing and craft is the making of them.
‘But then there are the others. The ones who are sent here from another dimension to be funny in a way that defies logic of analysis. They just have ‘IT’.
‘Bobby Ball was the first bloke that I ever saw on telly who had that. The making of my childhood Saturday nights.
‘Today the world lost someone incredibly special & I stand here now, in my kitchen, typing this through tears because 40 years later, he still means the world to me. (sic)’.
Keith Lemon wrote on Instagram:
‘Sad times. I met him only a couple of times but he was a lovely man and very funny. Salute Bobby Ball. Thank you for all your funny times. RIP x (sic)’.
Bobby’s comedy double act partner Tommy Cannon – who starred alongside his pal in The Cannon and Ball Show from 1979 and 1988 – has said:
‘Rock on, my good friend, I can’t believe this, I’m devastated’.
What’s more, radio presenter Nick Ferrari admitted Bobby put him “at ease” quicker than anyone else when he had to interview the star during his showbiz reporter days.
Speaking on This Morning, he said:
‘I had to interview Cannon and Ball and I was in absolute awe.
‘But of all the people I interviewed he put me at ease the quickest. He was a genuinely, warm, wonderful bloke. He was such a great guy and a joy to interview’.
This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield said:
‘He was such a lovely man. He was a genuinely lovely, sweet, kind man’.
And Holly Willoughby, his co-host on the brunch-time show, added:
‘Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this time. Sending you all lots of love’.
Bobby also starred in Last of the Summer Wine, Heartbeat and Not Going Out, as well as the fifth series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2005, alongside Tommy, former Emmerdale actress Sheree Murphy, and ex-EastEnders actor Sid Owen among others.
