Celebrity MasterChef 2020: All You Need To Know

People’s favourite, Celebrity MasterChef 2020 has arrived just on time to bring some cheer in times of uncertainties. A total of 20 contestants started the series last Wednesday July 1. The shows will be aired on Fridays starting July 3, 9pm on BBC One.

The line-up has caused some controversies as there are less familiar faces but Celebrity Masterchef 2020 this summer is going to be extra special! You can expect a little normality when you watch the show with no face masks or social distancing. The crew finished shooting before the lockdown started!

More about the controversial line-up, an interesting ‘first’ on the show, and most importantly, who will be crowned Celebrity MasterChef 2020?

First Things First, Who Are The Contestants And The Judges Of Celebrity MasterChef 2020?

A Remarkable Contestant’s Interesting Preparation For The Show

Travel presenter Amar Latif is the first blind contestant to compete in the cookery show! He will be peeling, cutting, measuring, and cooking without using his sense of sight. Interestingly, he believes his other senses will help him to compete with his rivals.

Amazingly, he had barely cooked a meal since he lost his sight when he was 18 years old but he is positive that he will make it in the show! He would be provided adapted equipment such as talking scales and special measuring spoons but not extra time.

“They said I could have adapted equipment but no more time. Now I have realised that us blind chefs can be better than sighted ones. I can’t wing it so I have to have everything ready and organised. I have got it timed and planned down to a T.”

“You’ve got the smell and the sound, for example. If my fish is not happy and needs attention, it will make a spitting sound.”

“You have to keep tasting stuff, I totally rely on that. I know if it is missing salt, pepper or butter, I wouldn’t say my other senses are stronger but I use them a lot, I realise that sighted people don’t use their other four so much.”

The Celebrity MasterChef 2020 Trophy Will Only Be Awarded To The Winner After The Lockdown

Understandably, it is a killjoy having to wait to grab the trophy you won. But, this year’s Celebrity MasterChef winner has no choice but to wait until the lockdown is lifted to hold the Celebrity MasterChef trophy.

Since the show was filmed some time back, the winners have been chosen but are being kept secret. However, it just might be for the best.

According to an insider source,

“Because the series is pre-recorded months in advance, there is a lot of secrecy surrounding who the winner is, so it’s safer to keep hold of the trophy to avoid the news getting out and ruining the surprise for viewers at home.”

Past Winners And What They Said About Winning The Title

Last year, Olympic medalist Greg Rutherford won the title and he said,

“I used everything I learnt as a sportsperson to dedicate my time and energy into creating the best food I possibly could.”

Another winning speech that really stands out is 2018 winner John Partridge’s speech.

“I thought it was going to be all about cooking and about food and it ended up being so much more than that. I cooked to remember.

“To remind myself of who I am, where I’m from and what I can still be. And now to have actually won – it just feels really really good.”

Impressively, 2010 winner Lisa Faulkner said that the show changed her life.

“I now cook all the time, I cook every day. If I’m stressed I go cook, I try things I’ve never tried before and I absolutely love it… I’ve just become obsessed with it.”

Now, let’s wait for Celebrity MasterChef 2020 winner and the winning speech!
