The Possession was released in August 2012 and like all of the other movies on this list, it was based on a terrifyingly true story!

The movie was inspired by an eBay listing that went live which professed to be selling “a haunted Jewish wine cabinet box”.

The box contained all sorts of bits and bobs including two locks of hair, a candlestick…oh and an evil spirit that haunted its previous owner.

The seller of the box was a college student named Iosif Nietzke who made a very convincing case of why you should buy the box…

He wrote;

“We have definitely seen a tidal wave of ‘bad luck.’ Most disturbingly, last Tuesday, my hair began to fall out. I’m in my early 20s and I just got a clean blood test back from the doctor’s….”

Despite the threat of being eternally haunted, people couldn’t stop placing their bids on the box. Eventually it sold for $280!
