The Body Coach TV has been keeping us fit in lockdown; home workouts can be a struggle, but having someone (virtually) cheering you on is a big help!

Boasting an impressive 2.48million subscribers on his Youtube channel, and a massive 3.8m on his Instagram, Joe Wicks (the man behind The Body Coach) has made a name for himself as one of the UK’s leading fitness influencers.

33-year old Joe’s online fitness presence began over five years ago, when he began posting short burst HIIT workouts, along with 15- second recipe videos on his Instagram. He went from cooking for family and friends to the nation almost overnight…

His quick and healthy recipe offerings branded ‘Lean In 15’ soon turned in to a cookbook series as his audience grew.

The Body Coach TV’s website now offers everything from a free nutrition plan- including a veggie 90 day plan- to fitness guides and even his own merch.

Joe’s fitness journey actually has quite a dark motivation behind it. Growing up with his Dad who was addicted to heroin, he admitted to not wanting to go down that same path, so used fitness as an escape, which turned in to a career for him:

“I was scared of it and I got into exercise and fitness and so his mistake changed my life.”

He’s become especially popular recently for his ‘P.E. With Joe’ videos, offering an easy and fun fix for parents home-schooling during lockdown.

Wicks hasn’t missed an upload yet since lockdown began months ago- and it shows in his ever-growing views (over 70 million worldwide!)

Since lockdown is slowly easing, and normality resuming, Wicks has announced he will be cutting back his online P.E. sessions to three times a week:

I” need a little bit of a rest. As of next week I’ll be running a reduced time table of 3 days per week. I’m going to be doing LIVE workouts Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 9am for everyone.”

We can’t blame him for needing a break- this man doesn’t stop!

His efforts have gained national attention, often featuring on morning news programmes like This Morning and Lorraine. He really has gained status as one the Nation’s treasures, especially during these testing times!
