The now 60-year-old journalist and broadcaster has earned his title as the longest serving breakfast TV anchor in the world!
A TV Veteran
Belfast born Holmes has hosted live daily programmes for 36 years now, starting at the tender age of 19.

His career really took off when he landed a slot on Britain’s biggest breakfast show, GMTV, which he hosted for 12 years.
Used to the early mornings by now, he then went on to host Sky News Sunrise for 11 years, from 2005-2016.
Alongside other jobs, he was also hosting This Morning part- time, alongside wife Ruth Langsford.
Eammon And Ruth Langsford Relationship
They’re the ultimate TV couple, both on and off screen. The pair first met back in 1997 and instantly fell for each other.
Their romance was kept on the down-low at the start, out of respect for Eammon’s ex-wife; something Ruth admired:
“I thought it spoke volumes about the sort of man he was, the sort of father he was and the integrity he had. It made me love him more, not less.”
They made their first appearance co-hosting This Morning together in 2009.

They’re fan- favourites on the show, thanks to their natural rapport as a married couple:
“Presenters can have a good rapport but you can not manufacture a real- life couple.”
Eammon might be the first to make a joke about his wife, but their chemistry is clear:
“Eamonn will be the first to take the mick out of me but he will also be the first to floor me with his thoughtfulness.”

The Missing Piece
Holmes and Ruth Langsford went on welcomed their first and only child, Jack, back in 2002.

Jack, now 19, is the only child the couple share, but Eammon actually has two other sons and a daughter with ex-wife, Gabrielle Holmes.

Eammon Holmes Young: Second Time’s A Charm
Eight years after welcoming their son, Eammon finally popped the question- at Cheltenham Races- after a realisation:
“I just suddenly thought, why have I not got that tied up? This suddenly really annoys me.

“I went outside, and started six pages of text to her, telling her how much I love and adore her.”
It took Ruth a while to actually read the text, and it wasn’t until they were driving home that she saw it and said yes!
Celebrity Gogglebox Backlash
Viewers can’t get enough of these two together, So much so, they recently appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox.

The excitement of appearing on the show was rather tainted for Holmes, by the show’s ‘cruel and idiotic’ editing of the episode:
“I am hurt beyond belief that @C4Gogglebox chose not to use me talking about my Father dying from a Heart Attack at the side of a road and replace it with a funny story following a young lad giving his Father CPR . Idiotic and cruel edit.”
