Piers Morgan Wife: Everything You Need To Know

Piers Morgan wife, Celia Walden, might be ten years his junior, but the pair have more in common than you might think. Here’s everything you need to know…

Celia, 44, wrote for the Daily Mail (as does Piers), and also had her own column for the Daily Telegraph, prior to even meeting Morgan.

So, they’ve got that in common for a start; Celia’s also the daughter of former Conservative MP, George Walden, which must be a hit with Piers, given his strong (very vocalised) affinity to the party.

Celia’s Writing Career

Celia, born in Paris but raised in London, has also turned her hand to a couple of novels in her time.

She rather controversially released a memoir in 2011 about her ‘rapport’ with late George Best, called ‘Babysitting George’.  The release received backlash from Best’s widow, claiming the pair had only met a handful of times.

Walden also wrote the novel Harm’s Way in 2008 and has contributed pieces to Glamour Magazine and GQ.

Piers Morgan Wife: Relationship Timeline

It’s alleged that Walden started seeing Morgan in 2006 whilst he was still married to ex-wife and Mother of his three sons, Marion Shalloe.

In an interview with Amanda Holden on Heart FM, Morgan opened up about how the pair met:

“I was doing a speech in front of 1000 people – magazine editors – in some fancy hotel in Mayfair and I absolutely died on my backside to the extent that they were openly jeering me, and the only person that was laughing was Celia, who I’d never met, and I went ‘who’s that?'”

The awkward encounter made him realise she could be ‘the one’:

“She said ‘that just bombed’ and I said, ‘I thought that was hilarious’ but she was laughing really at my discomfort. So I realised then that she would be perfect bride material!”

Piers recalled what he said to Celia on the second day he met her:

“On the second day I met my wife and I told her I was going to marry her. She turned to me with that same face and said ‘you will never ever marry me.”

Celia reportedly wrote her pledge down in words, in which Piers sharing that at their wedding.

Despite having a 10-year age gap, they embrace it with humour, as can be seen in an Instagram post of Celia’s:

“They told me I’d wake up married to an old man one day. I just thought we had more time #happy2020 #wheredidthetimego #primarycaregiver.”

Tying The Knot

Piers split with Marion in 2008 and just two years later went on to wed Celia. The elope was a rather secret one, with just a handful of close family and friends:

“He couldn’t stop smiling and was hugging and kissing all the guests. Piers looked exactly as he does on TV, it could have been one of the suits he wears on BGT.”

The ceremony was held in Swinbrook, Oxon, and rather surprisingly included none of Morgan’s high-profile friends.

At the time he was judging on Britain’s Got Talent, alongside Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell, but neither got an invite.

Although, the pair showed there to be no bad blood, with Amanda commenting:

“Piers got married today! I could not be happier for my lovely friend. Celia his wife is fabulous! Big party for us lot soon.”

Piers joked why he hadn’t asked Cowell to be best man:

“I couldn’t trust him to turn up on time.”

Cowell offered his congratulations, in with of course a dig in there for good measure:

“I hate to admit it but I’m absolutely thrilled for the two of them. Having met Celia, I have no idea how he managed to pull this one off.”

Piers Morgan Wife: Kids

Piers had three sons Albert, Spencer and Stanley already with former wife Marion. He then welcomed his first girl, 8 year old daughter Elise, three years after marrying Celia.

The coronavirus pandemic broadcaster likes to split his time between his family home in Kensington and his Los Angeles property.

Piers And Susanna Reid: Is The Chemistry A Problem?

With clear chemistry whilst presenting Good Morning Britain together, and Piers even referring to Susanna as his ‘work wife’- does this cause tensions?

It seems not at all, Piers Morgan wife is often photographed with his ‘work wife’ at events.
