Tyson Fury Wife: The Woman Behind The Titles

Paris’ Traveller Upbringing

Tyson Fury wife was brought up in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, by an Irish traveller family, just like her husband Tyson Fury.

Speaking of her upbringing as part of the Irish traveller community:

“I am a Traveller, I am a gypsy. I was brought up in caravans when I was a little girl. There was no paperwork, there are still gypsies today who can’t read or write; we’re just that old fashioned.”

Tyson and Paris- The First And Last

Tyson and Paris met at the tender age of 15, at a family friends’ wedding, through mutual friends. The pair then began dating at Paris 16th birthday party, abiding to her family’s rules:

“He was my first boyfriend as I was not allowed a boyfriend until the age of 16. He is the only boyfriend I have had.

Boxing has always been part of their relationship, since Fury’s been in the ring even before they got together. Their relationship has always been a three-way thing:

“Tyson would train in boxing during the week and then come and see me at the weekend. I would always be so excited at the thought of seeing him.”

“I didn’t think he’d be serious about boxing, I thought it was just a pastime. Obviously being teenagers, I thought it was just a hobby for him.”

Paris has obviously had to get used to it, with her husband now being the WBC Heavyweight Champion.

Wedding

The love birds tied the knot just three years in to their relationship, in Chains Catholic Church in Doncaster, staying true to their roots.

Four hundred guests were in attendance, in true ‘big fat Gypsy wedding’ style. After tying the knot, Tyson Fury ‘The Gypsy King’ continued with his boxing commitments, despite the family he was now leaving behind.

Kids

Tyson and Paris Fury have five kids together: Venzuela Amber, Prince John James, Prince Tyson Fury II, Valencia Amber and Prince Adonis Amaziah. Quite niché names you might notice…

Given their Dad’s self-righteous title of ‘The Gypsy King’, Fury ensured his sons were also titled:

“I’m a king and they’re princes until they earn their rightful name.”

Fury also revealed in his ITV documentary, that his youngest daughter’s name was actually thought up in a dream he had:

“One night, while I was sleeping, I thought of Venezuela. My wife is called Paris. I’m Tyson and [gesturing to his son] he’s called Prince John James. If the girl had a normal name it wouldn’t fit in, would it?”

He’s not wrong. He did also want to name one of his sons Jesus, though- Paris, not surprisingly, refused.

Tyson Fury Wife: What Does She Do For Work?

Paris’ job role is actually housewife and ‘Stay-At-Home-Mum’ as Fury is expected to spend months at a time in training camp when preparing for fights.

She runs the household, whilst also running the five kids:

“My role is to be doctor, nurse, cooker, cleaner, father at the minute. General house organiser. If you want to roll that down into one title, it’s ‘Mam’. Mam has got a lot to do.”

Watching Tyson Fury Fight

Paris was 5 months pregnant when she watched her husband take on the biggest fight of his life against Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.

Tyson Fury wife admits the trauma of watching the man she loves take blows to the face:

“It’s very hard… You just have to accept it because it’s something he wanted to do. But as you’re watching, I take every punch he takes. I’m cringing on the inside, literally

“It’s hard and it’s getting harder because every fight is a harder fight so obviously, it’s a harder level.

Speaking of the Tyson Vs Wilder fight held in Los Angeles in 2018, she talked of the physical and mental toll it took on her:

“I didn’t feel well for a week after that fight. The stress and the pressure it put us under was terrible.

Tyson Fury Wife: Dealing With Tyson’s Issues

But, she also admits you can’t win in a sport like this. When Tyson did take some time out of the ring, other areas of his life suffered.

The former champion binged on food, ‘ballooning to 29 stone’, as well as also abusing alcohol and drugs to fill the void left behind. Tyson sought those boxing highs from even more dangerous sources.

“He was drinking heavily, he was doing things that even I didn’t know about and it was just getting worse and more out of hand.”

Things got so bad that his mental health started to take a massive hit. His drug abuse and weight gain, as well as being without a focus very nearly tipped Fury over the edge.

Recalling his near-suicide attempt that saw him nearly drive his Ferrari 190mph toward a bridge:

“I heard a voice saying ‘don’t do this, you’re going to destroy your family’s lives’”.

Things seem to be only looking up now for Tyson and his family, since winning his comeback fight. We hope it carries on!
