The 37-year-old television presenter has been forced to air her new daytime show from her living room on Monday (30.03.20) due to the coronavirus lockdown, and she has been practicing her opening lines every night before bed to ensure she is word perfect.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, she said:

‘It’s scary having your name on a show because there’s no one else to blame if it’s rubbish.

‘It feels amazing but equally scary – I’m human, I get nervous. Every night before I go to sleep I’m practising the opening of the show’.

Steph has always been very private about her life away from the cameras, so admitted the prospect of opening up her living room for the nation to see is “daunting”.

She continued:

‘I’m a private person, so to fling open my doors to the nation is daunting. But these are very strange times, so we’re all doing stuff out of our comfort zone’.

The former BBC Breakfast presenter has a four-month-old daughter with her girlfriend, and the couple have a system in place to look after the youngster when Steph is on air from her living room.

She explained:

‘We’ve got a tag team system so we’ll just carry on with that.

‘But this is live TV from an actual home so anything could happen’.

The news comes after Steph was originally supposed to film from Channel 4’s new headquarters in Leeds in the spring, but her show has now been brought forward as part of the broadcaster’s schedule during quarantine.

She hopes her new show will shine a light onto the unprecedented time by offering “warm” and “funny” television.

Steph added:

‘The aim is to create a community of people who want to find good in the bad.

‘We could all do with a way to get that warm, fuzzy feeling. I am desperate to get on air so we can celebrate the good stuff going on’.
