Amazingly, Kevin Clifton paved his way towards his dancing stardom ever since he was a child. His parents taught him ballroom and Latin dancing.
Fun Fact: His parents are former World Champions Keith and Judy Clifton!
Another Fun Fact: He used to dance with his sister Joanne Clifton in national and international competitions.
Kevin’s achievements list goes long as he started winning in dance competitions very young.
Apparently, he was once crowned as Youth World Number 1 and he was the British Latin Champion four times.
Remarkably, he had also won International Open Titles in countries such as:

- Portugal
- Sweden
- Japan

- Hong Kong

Having said that, Kevin’s achievement didn’t stop at competitive and international stages. He even participated in musical theatres and dance TV shows.
From Dirty Dancing The Musical to performing for Shaftesbury Theatre in Japan, Australia, South Africa and the United States, he became a national and an international icon.
Apart from that, Kevin had also made guest appearances on Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance.
However, his talents were truly revealed on the stage of Strictly Come Dancing which he joined in 2013 and has continued till date!
What’s more, he made it to the finals of each show except in 2017 (won by Joe McFadden and Katya Jones!) and 2019 (Winners were Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse!), proving that he is indeed a dancer to watch out for!

Kevin has danced with Susanna Reid, Anneka Rice, Susan Calman, Louise Redknapp, and Kellie Bright in Strictly Come Dancing.
In 2016, he partnered with English TV presenter and journalist who also happens to be his current girlfriend Stacey Dooley. They won the series!
However, It Wasn’t All Sunshine For Kevin…
Apparently, Kevin had been rejected twice by Strictly’s bosses.

“It’s a really big deal to be on Strictly, and it will open some doors as well.”
“I found out from someone in the inside what their problem with me was the image.
“They’re looking at how you’re interacting with your partner, how to talk to the camera.”
Sharing about the tough times, he revealed that he even approached fellow dancers for leads into the show.
“Nobody was giving me an inch. Nobody was giving me anything.
“They all come from that competition world. Jazz dancing is all about getting in shows, whereas in ballroom dancing, they would tell you how to beat the person who was having a private lesson over there.”
After being rejected for the second time, his dad gave him some sensible advice.
“My dad was always saying it all comes down to hard work.”
And then, he got his big break!
“I got a call from them after the trailer saying there’s an extra space coming up, do you want it?”

Dance brought them together and they seem to be going good!
While they are not eager to start a family as both of them are focused on their careers, it looks like Stacey had given some thought into it.
