Pete And Sophie Gogglebox: Their Real Life Jobs And Siblings

Brother and sister, Pete and Sophie Sandiford, are certainly fan favourites  with Gogglebox viewers but what do they get up to in real life?

Gracing our television screens on Friday nights, the pair crack us up with their witty quips on the latest television alongside Giles and Mary, The Malones and Jenny and Lee, as families from across the UK watch TV shows from Love Island to Killing Eve.

A Celebrity version of the Channel 4 show has even taken off with names such as Emily Atack, BBC radio presenter Nick Grimshaw and Little Mix.

Pete and Sophie joined the show in 2017 and have become one of the prominent families to be shown, especially during the Gogglebox 2019 season.

Energetic, chatty – with a seriously impressive mug collection – just who are Pete and Sophie? We’re taking a look at their jobs, family and previous claims to fame.

What Are Their Normal Jobs?

While the Gogglebox stars do get paid for appearing on the show, they also have normal jobs.

It has been reported that the Gogglebox cast aren’t paid a regular salary but are given £1,500 a month to watch 12 hours of television a week. Filming is split into two, six-hour long shifts.

So, what do Pete and Sophie get up to when they’re outside of our television screens?

Pete is an electrician while Sophie works in retail. She even tweeted kind words to her fellow retail workers during the madness of Black Friday.

Their Other Siblings

Fans of the show will recognise the voiceover introduction of the two as “Pete and his little sister Sophie”.

But it might surprise you that Pete and Sophie Sandiford actually have two other siblings!

There’s another brother, Harry, and sister, Lucy. And now we know, we’re just dying to see them join the Gogglebox cast.

Taking to social media, the two regularly post photographs of the four of them on trips out.

Aren’t They In The TalkTalk Advert?

Pete and Sophie are now Gogglebox regulars but if you feel like you already recognised their faces then you’d be right.

Prior to joining the show, the siblings appeared in TalkTalk’s Stuff Matters advert campaign.

The unscripted advert featured families sharing the moments that make Christmas magical.

Nominated For The National Television Awards

The National Television Awards (NTA’s) are due to take place on 28th January and 2020 will be the 25th anniversary year.

In an interview, Sophie said:

“We can still pop out for milk, but I can always tell when we’re on telly because my phone buzzes with new Twitter followers.”

Pete added:

“We’re still gobsmacked that we’re on the show. A woman came up to me saying me and Soph were ace – when people take the time to do that, it means a lot.”

Gogglebox are nominated in the category Best Factual. Last year, they lost in the same category to Paul O’Grady: For The Love Of Dogs. Could this year be their year?
