Ian ‘H’ Watkins and Matt Evers won’t date because they don’t want to “deter attention” from their Dancing on Ice pairing

The Steps singer and his professional partner are the show’s first first same-sex couple and although they get on very well, the 43-year-old skater insisted there is no chance of their friendship turning romantic because it would “go against” the reason for them working together.

Matt told The Sun Online:

‘Romance goes against the point of why we are doing our same sex coupling on the show. We don’t want to deter attention from what we are really trying to do.

‘H and I are really good friends. We don’t want the curse of ‘DOI’ to strike us’.

But both H – who has twins Macsen and Cybi, three, with former partner Craig Ryder – and Matt have been finding the time to date when they’re not busy training for the show but have yet to find love.

Matt admitted:

‘We actually both went on dates last week with guys we met on Tinder, so I’m still looking for my Prince Charming’.

Earlier this month, the American sportsman insisted he had never thought about H as a “potential partner” but he wouldn’t rule out ever getting together romantically with him because the ‘5, 6, 7, 8’ singer is such a “lovely man”.

He said:

‘I’m very much a professional. I’ve never had the chance to have a showmance because I’m a gay man and I’ve always skated with females.

‘I haven’t looked at him as a potential partner outside the rink but I’d never say never. He is a lovely man’.
