Megan Love Island Age: Love Island To Mental Health Activist

Blonde bombshell Megan Barton Hanson, now 25 years old, set hearts racing during Love Island 2018.

Strutting into the Love Island villa, there wasn’t one boy who whose head turned so fast it could have fallen off and after several twists, turns and pulling people for chats, Megan cracked on with Wes Nelson.

However, it was more than drama that propelled Megan into one of the most memorable contestants on the show.

Her £25,000 surgeries quickly became the subject of national debate. Paid for by modelling and dancing work, Megan staunchly defended her decision to change her appearance as well as how she financed the work, going on to openly discuss her mental health issues and campaigning for change.

What Is Megan From Love Island’s Age?

Born on March 6 2019, Megan is now 25 years old.

    Surgery At 17

Megan’s first surgical procedure was at 17 when she had her ears pinned back. At 19, she had her breast enlargement and rhinoplasty. Since then, she has had a second breast enlargement, lip fillers and veneers.

Speaking of her decision to change her appearance, Megan said:

“I was still beautiful in my own way back then, I’ve just changed a few things. I was comfortable then and I’m comfortable now.”

Tackling old-fashioned stigmas and confronting negative media, Megan has talked openly about her struggle with anxiety and low self-esteem in order to encourage female empowerment.

The activist has regularly discussed the pressures of social media – and editing apps – that allow women to alter and perfect their appearance, explaining how brands target young women and their appearance. Yet when women do change their natural appearance, they’re often labelled fake.

    When asked:

“Do you think you would have got on Love Island if you had had nothing done?”

    Megan replied:

    “Probably not.”

When asked if the surgery fixed her confidence, Megan said:

“It changed the outside shell but you’re still dealing with the insecurities and self-esteem issues that you did before.”

    Surgery To Therapy

In an interview with Good Morning Britain, Megan explained:

“You can decorate the outside shell, but really to feel good on the inside you need to work on it”

    She continued:

“For me, it was therapy and with age that you become more confident in how you look.”

“People will spend loads on a new pair of trainers, a designer bag or getting their hair done, they’ll go to the gym and spend loads of money on membership but spend that money on therapy.”

The reality star has CBG (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) which she confirmed supports her mental wellbeing.

Sharing her experience with followers, Megan told her story to Heat as part of the Where’s Your Head At? campaign.

    She said:

“I think we’re slowly getting better with mental health in the UK. We’re speaking about it more openly but it’s still something we need to talk about more.”
