The contestants from the 2018 dating show got back together for a festive special last year, but there won’t be a repeat for this year’s hopefuls as producers are busy preparing for Winter Love Island, which stars in January.

A source told The Sun newspaper:

‘The reunion hasn’t been cancelled, as it isn’t a regular thing in the Love Island calendar.

‘Everyone around the show is super excited for Winter Love Island and can’t wait to watch the action in the New Year’.

A representative for ITV declined to comment.

Last year’s reunion show – the first in the programme’s history – saw an explosive row between Charlie Brake and Ellie Brown, while Eyal Booker shared a kiss with Kendall Rae Knight.

Meanwhile, show host Caroline Flack has arrived in South Africa to start work on the new winter series and admitted she’s unsure what to expect.

The 40-year-old presenter revealed on her Instagram Story she was preparing to shoot the opening commercial for the show.

As a stylist did her hair and make-up, she said:

‘We have just landed in Cape Town for Winter Love Island.

‘We are not sure what to expect, we don’t usually film it in the winter do we?

‘We are trying to decide what the hairstyle is going to be for this year’s Love Island.

‘I think I might go to a bob – I might bob it up’.

Caroline also appeared to give a clue as to the location of the new villa, tagging her location as a short drive from the Lion’s Head mountain, in Cape Town.

Winter Love Island will launch on January 8.
