George Williams Sampson, also known as George Sampson BGT, is a talented 26-year old from Warrington. He won the second series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2008 at the age of 14. But what has he been up to since his last appearance in TV at BGT The Campions?

He is not only one of the most famous and youngest street dancers and television presenters in the UK, but also an official ambassador of the United Dance Organisation. This was founded in 2002, and it is now the most important street dance organisation in the worlds.

When Did George Sampson Become Famous?

George Sampson first showed his talent to the world in the 2007 auditions of Britain’s Got Talent (BGT). He danced to “Drop”, the famous hit by Timbaland ft. Magoo & Fatman Scoop. Even though he received a yes from all the three judges, he wasn’t able to take past the show’s semi-final. In other words, the two judges Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan asked him to go back home.

Nevertheless, he decided to try once again, and he successfully went through the auditions (and the final vote) of the second series of the show. This is how the George Sampson BGT star we all know finally received his first award, and the judges recognised his real talent.

What Is George Sampson’s Disease?

George Sampson suffers from a condition called Scheuermann disease. This affects the bones and prevents them from developing correctly. As a consequence, patients (who are in prevalence children and teenagers) can suffer from an abnormal curvature of the spine.

This disease has led several professional to stop dancing, but not the young George Sampson. He decided to not give up his talent. Besides, allegedly, doctors allowed him to proceed with his activities.

Did He Have Surgery?

As Leona Lewis’ net worth shows, people who take part in talent shows tend to make a discrete fortune. It is thus no surprise if in 2017, at the age of 23, George Sampson BGT star decided to have surgery and improve his appearance. In fact, he had a hair transplant.

He declared that repeated head-spinning that are part of his dance was to blame for the missing strip of hair that was right at the centre of his scalp. On his Twitter page, he also said that:

“I have always been convincing myself I’m not worried or it’s not a big deal but really it is. It’s not only for my own confidence but also being in my line of work which is very image-orientated.”

Allegedly, the hair transplant costed £9 million. After a few months, George Samson was wearing a baseball cap to cover and protect his head at the red carpet at the What’sOnStage awards in February 2018. His girlfriend joined him in this special moment, and the two of them were one of the most glamorous couples walking the red carpet.

In December 2015, after his victory, the young and talented George Sampson BGT finally met the love of his life: the beautiful actress and dancer, Lauren Grice. They fell in love since the first minute they saw each other. Recently, they finally moved together in London. Luckily for them, they did not decide to move to one of the worst cities in the UK.

Recently, at Britain’s Got Talent Championship, George Sampson was allegedly “robbed” from the title of winner. Or, at the least, this is how his fans felt, when Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, the show’s presenters, announced that the audience and the judges’ votes were given to another contestant. The winner was thus Preacher Lawson.

Nevertheless, his performance was so perfect that David Walliams, one of the judges, called him a “real-life Billy Elliot”.  No matter how much this boy will grow either as a person and as a dancer, he will always be Britain’s beloved George Sampson BGT!
