Catherine Tyldesley has banned her husband from practicing Strictly Come Dancing routines with her after he nearly pulled her arm out of its socket with his “dodgy dance moves”.

The former Coronation Street actress says her significant other Tom Pitford’s attempts at helping her rehearse for the BBC Latin and ballroom show left her in “absolute agony”.

She said:

‘He’s desperate to give it a go.

‘He got a bit ambitious and then tried to spin me like he has been dancing in competitions for decades and almost pulled my arm out of its socket.

‘I was in absolute agony and told him I’d never live down the embarrassment if I was ruled out of ‘Strictly’ by my own husband’s dodgy dance moves’.

And as a result of the close call, Catherine has axed their home practices.

She added to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column:

‘I was like, “Let’s not do this again, you’re banned.”

‘Let me stick with the professionals, at least until the end of the show’.

Last month, the former cobbles favourite – who played Eva Price on the ITV soap – admitted she was hoping to find ‘Strictly’ “therapeutic”.

She said:

‘I never felt body confident enough to do it. I felt so much bigger than everyone else and I used to think, “Who would be able to lift me?”

‘About 90 per cent of the classes I just didn’t turn up to. Dance wasn’t my thing at all.

‘In my head I’m still too big, so I’m hoping [‘Strictly’] will be a bit therapeutic for me. And it might help me break through everything I’m terrified of.

‘At the minute it feels like it’s happening to someone else, I’m so far out of my comfort zone. I’m scared of doing a forward roll, so god knows how I’ll cope with the lifts’.

Catherine has impressed on ‘Strictly’ so far, and is around fifth favourite to take home the Glitterball Trophy at the end of the series.

Fellow former soap star Kelvin Fletcher – known for his role as Emmerdale’s Andy Sugden – is the hot favourite to triumph on this year’s series.
