Mike Bushell’s wife was pleased he was partnered up with Katya Jones on Strictly Come Dancing – because “she takes risks”.

The 53-year-old TV presenter says his significant other Emily Bond was delighted when Katya – who caused controversy on last year’s show when she was caught kissing her celebrity partner Seann Walsh on a night out, despite being married to fellow pro dancer Neil Jones – was announced as his partner, because she is “one of the best choreographers”.
He said:
‘My wife thought that Katya would be the best choreographer because she takes risks.
‘And if you can get Ed Balls to Blackpool we can get at least to Halloween’.
And Mike admitted it was Emily who turned his attentions to the programme last year.
Speaking on Radio X’s ‘The Chris Moyles Show’, he added:
‘She loves the show and got me into it last year’.

Mike recently admitted he and Emily were “chuffed to bits” when it was announced would be teaming up with Katya on the BBC Latin and ballroom show.
He said:
‘In all honestly Emily and I are chuffed to bits I have been paired with the incredible Katya Jones, the fabulously creative and one of the best choreographers on earth.
‘Just look at the record. A proven winner and can’t wait’.
Following last year’s kissgate controversy, Katya and Neil – who is partnered with former footballer Alex Scott – announced they had split last month.
In a joint statement, they said:
‘Hi everyone. As our fans and loyal supporters you are really important to us and so we wanted to let you know some news. After 11 years we have made the mutual decision to separate.
‘We will always love each other, just in a different way as friends. This will never change what a great team we make and we are really proud of everything we have achieved together.
‘Our shared love of dance means we will keep working and dancing together as well as exploring individual projects. No matter what we do we will always support and respect each other.
‘We wish one another every happiness and we will remain the best of friends. We are really looking forward to getting back to the ballroom and can’t wait to keep on dancing. Lots of love from us both xx (sic)’
