The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress will strut her stuff on the latest series of the BBC One dance show and admitted she is nervous because she always avoided dance classes in the past when she was weighed much more than she does now.

Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, Catherine said:

“I’m terrified and when I was at theatre school, I always swerved dance classes because I was so big. It’s a real challenge for me.”

Catherine, 35, also revealed that she has already been thinking about who she would like as her dance partner and has narrowed it down to Graziano Di Prima and Aljaž Škorjanec because they are tall like her.

She said:

“They’re all amazing. I’m quite tall so in my head I’m narrowing it down to Aljaž or Graziano.”

And she insisted her husband Tom Pitford isn’t worried about the dreaded ‘Strictly’ curse.

She said:

“Oh no, he’s so chilled.”

Catherine’s only concern has been keeping the news a secret from her friends and family.

She said:

“My gran will be thrilled, it’s been hard to have to lie to people. It’s been so tough to keep it a secret.”

Meanwhile, in an official announcement from the BBC, Catherine shared her excitement about learning a new skill.

She said:

“I’m thrilled to be a part of this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. I’m a huge fan of the show. It’ll be my biggest challenge to date as I’m not much of a dancer, but I’ve always wanted to learn the skill and the time feels right! I’m nervous as hell but super excited to work with such talented professionals. Hold onto your jazz shoes… mine is sure to be a bumpy/clumsy/fun ride!”

Catherine joins previously announced contestants Saffron Barker, David James, Chris Ramsey and Emma Barton in the dance competition.
