The eyelash technician – who was booted out of the villa last week, just six days after her arrival – pretended she was three years younger than her 26 years when it came to applying for the ITV2 dating show.

Speaking to Kem Cetinay and Arielle Free on the ‘Love Island Morning After’ podcast, she said:

“I lied about my age on ‘Love Island’.

“I tell everyone I’m 23, it’s a real issue. I’m 26 but now everyone knows it because they said they couldn’t lie for me.”

The average age of the contestants in the villa so far this series is 24.

Tom Walker is the oldest at 29, while Molly-Mae Hague is 19 and Tommy Fury is 20.

Elma – who was coupled up with Anton Danyluk before her exit – was due to be among the initial 12 Islanders who headed into the villa for the first episode, but she declined an offer from the programme’s bosses because she “wasn’t ready for it”, but later went back on her decision and entered on the 10th day.

She previously said:

“I was given the offer to [go in at the start], but I just think at that very time I wasn’t ready for it. My head space was like, ‘Oh, I don’t know if I want this, I don’t know if I want the fame.’

“Because initially when you go in for the first time you’re going to be in there for a while, there’s a big build up to it so people get to know you, there will stories and stuff, and I was like, ‘I just don’t know if I’m ready for it.’

“I initially declined it, and then once the show came on I was like, ‘I take that back, I want to do it.’ “
