Dogs are the best – there’s a reason that they are considered man’s best friend. But that doesn’t mean that they still can’t do something which might take you by surprise – suddenly sitting in a different way, rolling around more than usual or giving you a look you’ve never seen before. You always think you know what your dog’s mannerisms mean, but here’s a rundown of 50 behaviours just to make sure you’re in the right ballpark.

1. Hanging Out Of The Car Window – Taking In Its New Surroundings

We’re familiar with the image: spit flying in the wind, cheeks flapping and tongue lolling. We wish we could be in that state of pure freedom and delight.

When your dog does this, it is taking in its new surroundings and getting to grips with the overload of new scents and scenery.
