We all have those specific childhood memories that we treasure, which make us the people we are today – but in terms of British culture, there are many specific things which you definitely would (or should) have experienced, a sort of country-wide acceptance of the way things used to be. If you don’t recognise any on this list, then I have serious doubts of your being British at all! Either that or you had a very different youth to mine.

1. Peeling PVA Glue Off Your Skin

You remember the days – you’d get excited whenever the teacher suggested a fun project which included glue, scissors and glitter.

But then you’d just paste your entire hand with the glue instead, and spend the rest of the lesson peeling it off. Those were the days.
