Where Did It All Start?

Stacey grew up in Luton, Bedfordshire, was born on 9th March 1987. She started her working life at Luton Airport as a shop assistant.

After leaving school at 15, she gradually found her feet working at the airport. She then bagged a job as a contributing reporter on the BBC Three documentary Blood, Sweat and T-shirts.

“I was working at Luton airport at the time, doing promotions for perfume and make-up.”

After she found out that two 60-minute shows focusing on child labour (the working conditions of Indian sweatshops) were commissioned:

“It was just so surreal.

After her role in the series and appearing on News night because of it, Stacey earned her very on show.

If you know anything about Stacey, you’ll probably know about her reluctance to label herself as a journalist; this comes from what she calls the ‘very unorthodox’ way she ‘fell into it’ – unlike her reporter colleagues, Stacey never studied Journalism at university.

She Can’t Watch Her Early Material

“I wasn’t great at the start,” admits Stacey after revealing that she struggles to watch the first four or five years of her journalist work. She remembers that she was too invested in the subject and overly emotional, only learning how to become more objective later in the career.

Her Idol Is BBC correspondent Orla Guerin

“I love Orla Guerin – she’s my queen… when I watch her on the news I just can’t believe how brave she is.”

Stacey reveals that the reporter is always on the front line speaking to everyone, as well as going down ISIS tunnels in Mosul.

“She just doesn’t seem to have any fear. She’s the one I sort of look up to and think, oh man, you’re awesome.”

About herself, Stacey says:

“I do get scared… I am a massive wimp!”

“I was in Mosul, interviewing girls from the Yazidi community, near ISIS and there was talk of a mortar exploding that morning, I was so scared, I can’t tell you. You’re certain that something’s about to kick off and there’s the potential that you could get shot.”

She Believes That News Reporting Shouldn’t Be Completely Objective

“As a journalist, I think it’s ok to feel – I think there’s space for it.”

Stacey is an advocate for believing that news journalists can witness some of the most horrific crimes and not feel moved by them.

“It’s how you react to those feelings that’s important, but you’ve got to show people that you care… that’s why you’re there.”

Does She Have A Partner?

Stacey’s been on our gossip radar for almost a year now. Her ex-boyfriend, Sam Tucknott, revealed the story of their relationship.

The 30-year-old personal trainer revealed his heartbreak in detail. He claimed that Stacey and Kevin we’re seeing each other while they were still in a relationship.

It was only in March – three months after Strictly had finished – that the couple agreed to part ways. Steven and Kevin have now gone public with their relationship.
