‘Coronation Street’ star Julia Goulding was spooked by a ghost, which left her co-star Callum Harrison “quite frightened”.

The 34-year-old actress – who portrays Shona Ramsey on the soap – shot some tense scenes on location alongside her on-screen son Callum Harrison, who plays killer Clayton Hibbs, and admitted he was left “quite frightened” by some unnerving, unexplained whispering.

She said:

“We were doing a take and the sound operators had to stop the take because there was lots of whispering over the booms. It was, ‘Please everyone, be quiet,’ and all that kind of thing.

“But nobody had been talking. It was completely silent. All the crew, everyone watching on the monitors, everything was silent and this little whispering was happening.

“I don’t know [what the ghoul was saying], I didn’t hear it.

“Callum was quite frightened.”

The pair were filming Shona being held hostage by Clayton in a derelict building, which will come to a head in tonight’s (04.03.19) ‘Corrie’ double bill, in which he will threaten to stab his mum if police don’t pay him £10,000 and give him a getaway vehicle.

And despite the potential poltergeists away from the cobbles, Julia admits she pinches herself “every single day” she is shooting ‘Corrie’ scenes because she has been a fan of the soap her whole life.

Speaking on ‘This Morning’, she added:

“I asked my mum to take me to the set for my fifth birthday. We watched it, and still do, together.

“Ever since I can remember I knew I wanted to become an actor and I was like, ‘Mummy, please take me to the set.’ And she did.

“Every single day I pinch myself.”

Last October, Julia hinted at her current storyline, revealing the Platt family were set for a “dramatic” plot.

She exclusively told BANG Showbiz:

“There are some really good stories coming up for Shona, and obviously I can’t tell you much about them.

“But it’s been nice to have some light relief since the rape storyline, so I’m really looking forward to getting back into the nitty gritty drama. It’s nice to be able to do both.

“I’d like to see her go off the rails again. From what she came in as I’ve been allowed to explore so many different colours to her personality.

“I’d be excited to get a bit bad again.”
