Morbid curiosity is the perfect term to describe our fascination with doppelgängers.

– The word itself is German, meaning “double walker” or “double goer” and traditional stories equate doppelgängers to evil twins.

Sometimes doppelgängers are portrayed as ghosts and bringers of bad luck but, personally, having a look-a-like has its positives too! For example, send one off to replace you at work when you just can’t be bothered to go in. Especially on dreaded Mondays! It’d save you some sick days too!

If you’re curious about finding your twin stranger, check out: http://twinstrangers.net. All you have to do is upload some pics and facial recognition software will try to match you up with your look-a-like. The founder of the website managed to find three living people who looked like her! Creepy stuff.

In another case, a guy spent 17 years in prison for a crime because he was mistaken for someone who looked exactly like him – poor soul!

Whatever the story with doppelgängers, it’s always interesting to see just how one person can resemble someone else.

When you’re famous though, you don’t find doppelgängers…they find you…
