‘Grey’s Anatomy’ is a hugely popular medical drama and is second only to ‘ER’ in how long it’s been running. Not only that, it’s been a TV “juggernaut” over the years with it’s consistently dominant ratings. It reached a peak of 19.44 million viewer throughout the second season in the U.S. alone and still keeps an average of 8 million viewers an episode today.

Now that the fourteenth season has been finished for a couple of months, it’s getting harder to stay patient for season fifteen. Therefore, we need something to tide us over until then.

There’s still so much about the show that you probably don’t know. To address this and to whet your appetite, we’ve collected a bunch of interesting facts, stories and secrets about your favourite medical drama.

2. The genius of the show came from a doctor shaving her legs.

She’s said, “My show is more personal. The idea for the series began when a doctor told me it’s incredibly hard to shave her legs in the hospital shower.”
